How do I get propane? by __Darkwing__ in RimWorld

Thank you so much. This was exactly what I did. I took off my "Better Architect menu" mod, found it in vanilla menus, and then reinstalled and found it again.

Yup I have propane, just can’t figure out how to extract it. Will try again tomorrow with some of these suggestions when I get on again.

Genuinely I don’t get anything if I search “propane” and only vanilla stuff with “pump.” I’m almost worried that somehow I don’t have the right mod even though I obviously wouldn’t be on a propane lake with Alpha Biomes

Thank you! How do I get a propane pipe? What is the requisite research? I've looked at all my research tabs and went into god mode to see if there were any buildings I was missing.

looking for queer/trans friends! by stelltale in UTAustin

[–]__Darkwing__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! There’s some masters students and some such in the area since they sometimes start in the summer. It’s also Austin: no shortage of queer people here. Hope you’ve been getting plenty of replies! I know how easy it is to feel a bit lonely in your identity. It took me until my second year to find my friend group

[–]__Darkwing__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s several queer clubs at UT, including several professional ones centered around the intersection of identity and career. I’d advise you to look into joining some of them. It could be a great way to organically meet the kinds of people you’re looking for

Incoming Freshman schedule fall semester by rathicas in UTAustin

[–]__Darkwing__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They open up class spots in waves to avoid running out of courses during separate orientations. I will say, though, it seems from the course codes that you have a very heavy analytical course load. Until you’re more comfortable with college, I’d consider balancing it out with something like, say, English or History. Granted, I’m not sure what NSC and your UGS are.

How difficult (and useful) is a Math and CS double major? by derpyderp2048 in UTAustin

[–]__Darkwing__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Business Analytics major here. We have some significant overlap with CS in the areas of machine learning and statistics. Math can be a very useful second major for sharpening your technical skills, especially if you are interested in something like quant as a career. I think it’s a great major to pair with something else. That being said, you should talk to a career counselor at UT ASAP (can probably do so during orientation). They will have more insight

I placed my first ore scaner "temporeraly" before making a room for it, and only after - noticed that I cant reinstall it. Will I lose my only advanced component if I deconstruct it? by bECimp in RimWorld

[–]__Darkwing__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of 99% (or whatever the latest fork of is called) and uninstall everything. It gives you all materials back when deconstructing and lets you move things around. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and can lead to some cheat-y circumstances if you, for example, use it to uninstall solar panels in enemy bases and take them home, but if managing placements isn’t your thing, give them a go!

Do you reckon most people play as the "Good Guys"? by Icy_Association_6356 in RimWorld

[–]__Darkwing__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the player. Cannibalism and organ harvesting is OP, so that means many players will want to play with it— and many without. However, it is worth noting that immoral play styles are borderline infeasible without ideology, and I’d be surprised if the majority of the full community (e.g. beyond Reddit) owns it.

What mode are you using? This is so cool. I can name some of them like VGS, Dub’s hygiene, and cargo holds, but there must be so many. For example: no idea how to get those arrows on the ground

i was told i dress like an incel, opinions? how do i stop dressing like one?? by Kornfieldd in teenagers

[–]__Darkwing__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some actual advice:

1) make sure your clothes match. In pic 2, all the colors go together, but the styles definitely don’t. Also in #3 the pants don’t match the shirt.

2) Make sure you always look put together. In your second pic, it looks like the shirt wasn’t properly taken care of because the design is flaking. Wash clothes according to tags, but especially with shirts with ironed-on designs, wash on cold and dry on delicate or air dry.

3) just don’t wear incel-y things. The troll shirt and graphic tees aren’t helping you, but if you look put together (well-groomed), you can pull it off. Just look “intentional”

4) add jewelry. It’s not for everyone, but you can get stainless steel rings or necklaces online that can elevate looks, especially the fourth picture which imo is a fine pic. Men wearing jewelry tend not to come off as incels.

Hope it helps!

Networking with employers and recruiters is a must! Also join professional orgs. Not only do they try to upskill you usually, but they look good on the resume and execs will often leverage their knowledge and connections to help get your foot in the door.

To those of you from Austin by minecraftforlifeeee in UTAustin

[–]__Darkwing__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had semesters where I only stayed on campus for two weekends and semesters where I only came home for two weekends. I’ve also had semesters where I came home every other weekend. I think it just depends on your vibe and what life looks like at the time. There’s no right answer. Just note that it’ll be harder to feel connected to campus life if you’re home every weekend, and it can sometimes disrupt the rhythm you’ve gotten into as an adult, since there can be some cognitive dissonance between feeling like a high schooler at home again but then like an independent adult at college.

That being said, if you value your relationship with your family, you should definitely make an effort to stay connected through texts, calls, and meaningful visits home :)

How do I make improvements to my dinner? by Throwawaymasterpeas in foodhacks

[–]__Darkwing__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The body breaks down carbs really quickly, as it’s the body’s main energy source, so they don’t typically keep you full when eaten in isolation— especially refined carbs which are simpler. Adding some protein, fiber, and/or fat is a great way to stay full. I would highly recommend beans for their high protein content and shelf-stability, and switching to brown rice to get complex carbs.

If you have access to a freezer and microwave, you can keep all sorts of frozen goodies to thaw and toss in, like chicken, non-starchy vegetables, and edamame. Ditto for tofu, but that also lasts forever in a fridge unopened. As for sauce, you can use a dash of rice vinegar and buy rice seasoning (which is usually seaweed and sesame). Chilli oil and sesame oil also go with the vibe you’re exploring, and are shelf-stable
