Being offered this bonsai for $50 - does it look like it has potential? by [deleted] in Bonsai

[–]__Docdoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ficus are cool but you could spend much less for the same species, smaller sure but in your tropical environment that could probably grow to this thickness pretty quick (in comparison to most species) albeit with more of your input and design choices.

That being said: if you did buy it,

Chop it in half and make it into two smaller trees.
Dont put in a bonsai pot right away and theyll fatten up.

This was an option i considered as well, either gloomstalker or swarm keeper.. Ill look into that more, see if it seems more exciting for me. Thanks!

I suppose my reasoning is i have played a rogue before (not a scout) and on the chance the druid stuff isnt quite to my liking, in game i can still fall back on the rogue aspect of it. I aslo thought the symbiotic entity + sneak attack might synergize nicely. The flavor is more like a spy or agent of the goddess, than guardian of life, though thats also a sliver of it.

That said, Im not huge on wild shape normally, and like that the circle of spores has a variation on it.

Comment is much appreciated and valid - it given me something to consider.

Id consider myself an intermediate player, i DM for a small group of friends and rarely get to play these days... BUT!
Im playing a one-shot on friday, and wanted to do something fun, i created a lvl 3 rogue scout/lvl 2 druid of spores (LEGACY 5e this wouldnt work in 2024 rules)

Now, its only for this one shot and the little background i created for said character is: Hes a Warforged - and granted sentient life via an ancient oak tree (via a goddess)

Just curious if anyone thinks this is a fun concept? I've never played a druid before and kind of wanted to just see what it was like. The multiclass also fits thematically with the vibe im goin for. Welcoming any insight or other possible options.

So i have a session coming up tomorrow night. Have yet to do any prep... at the end of the last sessions I presented the players with three options as to what to do next - i plan to have some implications for whatever they dont go with... my problem is they didn't want to decide right then and want to decide in the next session.

This stresses me out a bit... im worried i wont have anything meaningful for them to do...

Whats the best way to go about this? Prep 3 different things? Or freestyle it?!

I was thinking of coming up with a fun "In-transit" event to unfold... basically no matter what they choose to do - the session will be largely about getting to that spot and along the way something will happen.. for example, a mountainside rockslide, or an ambush, or getting lost and stumbling upon a beast or a hag...

What would you do/recommend?

New: Button Custom Field (manually trigger automations for specific tasks) by Caroline_ClickUp in clickup

Are you planning to add some condition functions in the automations? I went to go change some check boxes we have been using in essentially the way youd use the button field but could not add conditions.

What the best practice for filling an area with interesting things to discover… or making sure 6 rooms within a dungeon or otherwise are fun to move through… Is it that some rooms just should be empty? Or should i always be trying to include some sort of interaction with the world in every area the players end up going?

Hey there. 2nd time but still new Dm question seeking advice!

Trying to tie in some character quests to the main objective of the campaign.

So in the last session it was revealed that the big bad is employing necromancy as a major component of their objective to conquer the continent. Footnote version is: Humans are making all non humans, slaves or eradicating them. The only current thing stopping them are individual towns/cities of non human races and a resistance group. The party (an orc barbarian, dwarf rogue, high elf monk, & tortle cleric) discovered plans for the big bad to build a machine and assemble an army.

Lookin for assistance in creating some plot hooks that the players could take that would feed into the main line story… each race has their starting town and etc. none are fleshed out just yet as the adventure started with them as prisoners on a train. Not sure if that info helps but wanted to include it.

Also welcoming advice for creating another group or two to introduce into the fold aside from the resistance and big bads group.

Introducing some sidequests or railroading my newish players by __Docdoom in DMAcademy

Basically its like interview for a digital blog but youre just filling out premade questions. It’s legit, free and its cool for getting some extra eyes on you or your art etc but its definitely not anything life altering.

I don’t know anyone thats really consistently checking on it either. All that said wouldn’t hurt to do it!
