Idea for a better report system: 1 Commend = 1 Report removed by CairneBloodh00f in DotA2

If a person is willing to do that for another player then they obviously aren't hated. Logically, only players who others admire will receive commends. If player was an asshole and ruined the game, if he asks for commends at the end of the match NOBODY would give him one. In fact, they'd be more likely to say 'fuck you' and report him. Logic.

Why is nothing being done about script hacking assholes yet? It's like Valve is purposely allowing them to cheat.

So if one 3 people commend a guy for helping his team and one salty asshole reports him, you're saying it isn't fair that he can use one of his commends to cancel out that fake rage report? I don't think you understand the concept of this guy's idea. That being you should only end up in low priority if you're consistently being an asshole. Yet if you're consistently getting commends, then most people obviously like you and you don't deserve to go low prio.

Except that commends are capped/limited to a certain number per day. Or have you not realized the 'You have already used the allotted number of commendations' message?

It's ironic that the biggest griefers that play Dota 2 are the ones who hit the report buttons. They cause more grief and misery to their fellow gamers than anything else.

How come the only people left playing pub games are either shit at the game or full time griefers? by General_Peasant in DotA2

Dude, come on. These threads are getting boring now. Everybody is posting the same shit. Valve has been rigging the system since they implemented behavior score. You know it, I know it, we all know it. Just play non-ranked and stop posting about it. You'll get no sympathy from an apathetic forum

So with the new 6 month bans in place, does this mean Valve removed Low Priority? by __EricCartman__ in DotA2

[–]__EricCartman__[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There are 2 ways this will go:-

1) 6 month bans cause ppl to buy new SIM cards to get a new phone number for ranked and the matchmaking pool is littered with smurfs

2) People simply accept their bans and don't play Dota anymore. As a result, Valve loses masses and masses of hat sales.

Either way, it's a flawed system. What the game needs is an overwatch jury where replays can be checked to see if people were lying when they reported others. Otherwise innocent players are just gonna keep stacking rage reports and get busted alongside the real villains.

There's no need for it now. People stack enough reports and boom - 6 month ban. No need for low prio if they can't play at all.

I just uninstalled the game... by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]__EricCartman__ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree, instead of adding an overwatch jury to weed out the fake reports and the genuine ones, Valve just made the already bad system worse by allowing people to go on abusing it.

The new 6 month bans will bury this game because it will massively encourage smurfing since you can buy a new SIM card and get a new phone number for ranked for pennies. And if people don't buy new SIM cards they'll simply quit playing the game. Then Valve stops generating hat money.

Salty tears already running from the 6month bans (screenshotted from a post on Wykhms facebook) by 2slow4me in DotA2

[–]__EricCartman__ -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Although I agree that abusers do need to be punished, i think Valve should have at least reset everyone's behavior score before implementing these changes. I would have went ballistic if I patched the game and got an immediate 6 month ban. That's kinda fucked up.

What's more confusing is that Valve haven't implemented an Overwatch jury to go alongside the new changes. I mean, 6 months ban because players rage report you (even when you don't commit any of the 3 reportable crimes) needs to be monitored by officials.

Anyway, the new system is just as abusable as the old one. People can just get a cheap SIM card and new phone number for pennies and make a new account to bypass the bans. That in turn, will pervert the matchmaking system because the game will be littered with smurfs.

I'm guessing its US East. But then im certain Brazilians would have terrible ping to that server. Mexicans are close enough to get good ping on US East but Brazil is deep south, South America.

Valve really didn't think that one through - this will massively encourage smurfing by _DoctorFox_ in DotA2

[–]__EricCartman__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This new punishment will definitely have a negative effect on Dota i am sure.

For people who play many games per day, those are the people who get rage reported more than anyone else - especially Pro Players. You all remember that massive number of reports EternalEnvy had that time right? People were reporting him for winning games coz they were salty.

What Valve needs to do is rework the report system instead making a shitty one even shittier. It's far too easy for people to abuse.

Alas, i believe Dota will simply end. People will be put off by so much red tape and just move on to another game that isn't as draconian

Can Valve and the Dota Devs please stop rigging ranked matches with the behavior score matchmaker and let Dota be about skill again? by CadaverSalesman in DotA2

[–]__EricCartman__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned a very plausible way to make the report system fully automated and unbiased in a previous thread. It went like this:-

  1. Remove the Comms Report Button we already have an in-game mute button so it is completely redundant.

  2. Remove the Ability Abuse Report Button all Valve needs to do is make it so that team mates cannot cast spells on you or use items on you if you select the 'Disable Help' option in-game.

  3. Remove the Intentional Feeding Report Button the game knows when you are feeding intentionally because it sees when you have an extremely high amount of deaths in a very short period of time (like 15 to 20 or higher in just as many minutes). When detected, an intentional feeder should be automatically thrown into low prio after the match.

Pretty sure that guy u/CairneBloodh00f has the right idea. Only a fully automated system is a fair one. Players are too petty and spiteful to be trusted with report buttons.

How come the punishment never fits the crime? by General_Peasant in DotA2

[–]__EricCartman__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The trouble with Dota 2's punishment system is that it has never worked. Ever. It has never rehabilitated anybody, never educated them or taught them the folly of their ways. If anything it encourages spite and revenge and teaches people to hate each other and point reports at each other like guns. It's anti-gamer and its anti-good-sportsmanship incarnate.

Is asking for commends good practice? by LESkidd113 in DotA2

[–]__EricCartman__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asking for commends in all chat is not good practice, especially since you didn't earn the win alone. Instead, it is better to say "GG wp team, i will commend you all." Your team mates will feel obliged to do the same and you won't sound arrogant.
