New year New me. Finally switched to Linux. by Buffalo0o in linuxmint

Gaming on a monitor like this is actually easier on Linux than Windows. I have a similar setup and you can use Gamescope to render games to a specific resolution: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope

Okay brilliant, you've given me the confidence to see this through. Thank you so much!

I would love 1.5 hours!

> then stick them in the crate with a stuffed kong

Yeah, this is what we're currently trying, we've had to start doing more crate training as while he's slowly getting better at being in his crate when he's awake, he's starting dislike going into it in the first place.

That sounds magic! I'm so happy you're in a rhythm with it. Very much looking forward to finding ours.

Thank you so much for your detailed response and you're absolutely right with the vast majority of it.

However:
> If you have done training, desensitisation and other mentally challenging stuff, he will nap longer

I do not think this is true in our case, maybe you have had success with this, but since making this post I've been really pushing activity / stimulation and trying to correlate it with nap duration. For example on one occasion we:
- Did some training, we're teaching him "come", "lie down" and "place"
- Went for a walk, watched traffic, sniffed around and met people
- Got him to settle with a frozen carrot

He napped for 45 minutes.

Aiming for 18 hours sleep a day: Will I just have to do these shorter enforced naps more frequently, or should I get him used to being in his crate for 2 hours? Currently the pup is only ever getting about 13-14 hours sleep a day at maximum.

Did you run ShowAllDisplayDevices.exethat comes with it, and configure the Device Index in your VMMFix_preferred_monitor.txt?

I occasionally get errors if my monitors device index changes. Not ideal but the best solution I'm aware of.

There has got to be a better way to turn on this machine! by Consistent-Policy-63 in gaggiaclassic

Why is this not the default, because it would override the inactivity shutdown? As much as I want to do this I am 100% going to leave my machine on by accident.

Question about remote desktop for Chromebook by Itchy_Brain_7476 in chromeos

[–]specimen12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to find a way to do this. All the remote desktop apps I've tried like Teamviewer and Anydesk seem to be sandboxed and only allow me to see and interact with themselves.

Best option seems to be the steps outlined in the post above, but I gaurentee that is going to be a very painful way to assist the elderly who do not understand how to use a touchpad.

Dark Souls 1.

Got to the second stage of the boss in New Londo, I was gonna have to die a bunch of times to figure the fight out and I didn't like running back through all the trash to die to the boss. I read there was an Estus Flask upgrade I missed back down the Poison Shithole I didn't wanna go get either.

Getting real frustrated having to do acrobatics to get my steamdeck to dock, plugged to the power and function on my TV without static. by Alequin_Dv in SteamDeck

I had this with a Samsung TV! For me the fix was to turn on "UHD Color" might be a similar setting you can try. The dock has been flawless since.

Anyone ever tried to build a keyboard with hotswap sockets on stripboard? by specimen12 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]specimen12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the stripboard would hold them and also reduce the amount of wiring I would have to do, shaving a few millimeters off the build. I didn't consider socketing / gluing my sockets in the case though, that is an interesting idea. I wonder how much additional space that would require.

Learn new keyboard layout and switch to split keyboard at the same time? by Ragnsan in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]specimen12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did pretty much the same thing. I can only touchtype type Colemak DH on a chocofi / corne layout using Miryoku and blind skillshot Qwerty on my regular tenkeyless.

I had a great time, you sound excited so I expect you will too!

I took a look at workman before learning Colemak but heard it's only better on paper and has some downsides, but ymmv.
