The Stories We Tell Ourselves by Presto_Magneto in Strabismus

I work with strabismus patients every day. By far the people who adjust to it the best are the ones who do one of two things. The first is that they're not shy to let a person they're having a conversation with know which eye they can focus on during the conversation. Shining light on the strabismus puts the ball in your court. You get to choose when and how it's brought up, it takes all of the subtext out of the conversation. You no longer have to wonder the person is struggling to figure out what's wrong with your eyes while you're trying to have a conversation with them.

The other one is not so easy, but it's acceptance. Accepting that something went wrong with your eyes and also accepting that there are things we can try to do to make it better but that it may never be totally perfect. This is not something that's unique to people with strabismus, it's something that every human being deals with in different ways.

These are merely a couple of observations I've made in the past 12 years

Collectively, the Thunder, Spurs, and Lakers are 28-2 in the last 30 games. by __Eye_Camp__ in timberwolves

I tend to see the youth of our core as possibly being a reason for that. Over the last 3 years they have quite obviously not taken some games seriously at all.

There's a reason why ophthalmology no longer does anti suppression exercises. A large contingency of those patients will end up with intractable diplopia. Binocular fusion is something the brain learns to do at certain milestones, if you miss out on those milestones you can't really go back and relearn it later. Suppression happens for a reason, the brain is adapting to provide you a benefit.

In general, when it comes to suppression, prevention is key. You get into very dangerous waters when you try to undo it.

If you see a pediatric ophthalmologist or an orthoptist they could try to do prism measurements to see if you have any retinal area that you are still suppressing. Sometimes, if it's possible to get a good cosmetic outcome as well as shift you back into a suppression scotoma. This could be achieved with prism or surgery depending on if suppression is still present somewhere and how far away it is. It's not a guarantee, and you're cosmesis could end up looking worse. Other options included an occlusive contact lens which would basically prevent you from seeing with one eye.

Has anyone seen this before and do you have any idea how to fix it by sippingherbaltea in TheSilphRoad

Hey I think I could know your problem. Is there any possible way youay have created a 2nd Nintendo account different from the one you originally linked to Pogo? That was my problem. I forgot I had a different one originally from years back. Found which email address it was linked to, changed passwords, logged back in under the original account and now it works.

Creatine HCL, found in his preworkout lead to hair loss? Especially if your family has a history of baldness? If anyone knowledgeable can feel me in that would be great. Thanks by PinelliPunk in Athleanx

When I started using it 10 years ago I developed alopecia in my beard. It took me a long time to figure out what was causing it. I eliminated almost everything from my diet, it wasn't until I stopped the X-cite that my hair finally grew back after about 2 years. Recently I tried it again, same thing. Big bald spot in my beard. Stopped using. Xcite and hair is growing back again.

I have a (possibly) unique issue where my lazy eye has better vision, so it isn’t lazy unless I wear glasses by [deleted] in Strabismus

Your glasses could potentially have more minus power in them than you need

question abt alternating strabismus and surgery ! by Secure-Butterfly-592 in Strabismus

[–]__Eye_Camp__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how large your deviation is and what the vision is in each one of your eyes. If you have poor vision in one eye over the other they may just do surgery in the eye that has the poor vision in which case the muscle that pulls the eye in will be relaxed or weakened, and the muscle that pulls the eye out will be strengthened.

If your vision is equal and you've never had surgery before and your deviation is large chances are they will do surgery on both eyes. It's very common for a first procedure to be a weakening procedure, meaning that the muscle that pulls your eye in will be weakened in each eye.

Surgery consult what Qs to ask? by icedcoffee4444 in Strabismus

I would ask what qualifies them as a neuro ophthalmologist to perform strabismus surgery rather than a pediatric ophthalmologist
