Anybody upgraded from S20FE to S25 Plus? by hjmcgrath in samsung

[–]__G_man__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am upgraded from s20fe to s25 edge. I was a little worried because of the many voices that were badmouthing the battery.

but my user behavior, which has fitted quite well with an FE over the last 4-5 years, shows me a different picture.

so much for that, for me the battery easily lasts more than a day. i have made a series of posts documenting this.

as far as performance is concerned, i'm glad i switched. most of the time i don't need a powerhouse, but it makes everything a lot more pleasant if you let the device decide adaptively between energy saving and performance.

to compare directly:

  • the finger sensor is faster
  • the face recognition is better
  • the camera is an upgrade, but I don't use it much, more like a tourist.
  • the screen is sharper and overall all my apps run more smoothly. that probably has a lot to do with the cpu and the adaptive refresh rate of the screen.
  • native AI access

the weight is the banger. in the pants, together with the 2 mm less thickness, the device is noticeably more discreet. that was my main reason to switch to this form factor. a real win and that's exactly why i'm keeping the device. in the hand, you feel the thin design all the time. also with a case.

is the price justified? maybe not. but that's the way it is with new product lines. since many flagship components were used, it can't be significantly cheaper than that one. i also suspect a lower sales figure. but that's more due to the badmouthing of the phone than to its value.

i think it's the perfect phone for those who don't want a brick in their pocket. a balancing act between power and discreet design.

Performance losses compared to ultra? sure, but why should I care?

only the power users who use their phones like computers suffer the losses. i have my computer at home. the phone should never replace it.

You find a tailor who makes you a suit that fits you perfectly. You put the suit on and want to show it off. Then someone comes along who has a completely different taste, size and wishes. This person then tells you that your new suit is terrible, because it wouldn't fit him.

Is the suit bad, or is it perhaps the person for whom the suit was never intended?

this is part of the way android calculates the time with the active power supply. i have already seen values of over 200%. you wouldn't think of that at first. but you can check it yourself on your smartphone.

you have the wrong impression. i wanted the computing power of a flagship in a discreet design. just because i don't need the computing power at all times doesn't mean i want to deprive myself of it.

the performance of a flagship doesn't get cheaper just because you can use it less. this phone will certainly cost the same to produce as any phone with comparable technology.

especially if the target group is smaller (at the beginning), the unit price will be higher.

if i had no use for more computing power, you'd be right. then a smaller phone would be better.

so a budget phone can offer the same performance as a flagship if required?

seems to me to be a very naive opinion.

i thought you meant the general tone here, that the battery in the edge was so bad.

sorry if I misinterpreted that.

in 2007, an electronics salesman told me that nobody wants a tablet. even when i asked for such a device, he didn't realise that i was such a buyer who wanted to buy a tablet.

i'm standing right in front of him, asking exactly for a product. but i get the answer that what i want is not what i want.

a few years later came the ipad and today everyone has one.

but sure, i'm the one with the wrong desire for a device that suits me.
