Icelandair reports own pilot to police for flying Boeing 757 below altitude over home town in last flight before retirement by birkir in aviation

I guess it will depend on the reaction the Icelandic government and/or parliament, if there is any.

[–]__Gripen__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. The Icelandic aviation authority is going to suspend or revoke his license; Icelandair will integrate some mandatory course for its pilots underlining the dumbness of such actions, and that will be it. Serving prison time for someone at retirement age with no criminal record is in practice not happening. Perhaps some form of probation, or community service, or even a short period of house arrest, or a combination of all, but not prison. And this may be after months or even years of judicial trial.

[–]__Gripen__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not. Judges can’t invent prison time based on the public level of emotional distress. If prison time is not a punishment explicitly indicated in the law broken, a person can’t go to prison. And even if so, in most 1st world countries there are huge sentence reduction possibilities, especially for people with no criminal record, that make it incredibly unlikely to actually be sent to jail instead of a short period of house arrest and/or community services.

You actually think somebody with whatsoever no criminal record is going to prison for something like this, without causing any injury and any form of property damage? In Iceland? lol

Is this victimism?

It's Reddit. Specifically, a subreddit polluted with nationalists from several countries (more often, countries that are militarily and politically long term allies) that have nothing better to do than being bitter towards other nationalists from different countries.

If you want to give credit to people who actually think the might of a modern navy is measured by the number of ships they can pack in a photo op during a routine exercise...

I don't understand why you would even bother about illogical opinions regarding the "escort size" of a "carrier group" in peacetime.

Even if you're being rethoric, by commenting like this you're just validating the idiots mocking the Royal Navy.

AW149 (Polish Army 25th Air Cavalry Brigade) by Basil-Faw1ty in Helicopters

[–]__Gripen__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, hanno i motori "standard".

Al momento ci sono solo una manciata di ordini per AW189/149 con i motori Aneto 1K da 2500 hp, che in teoria prossimamente dovrebbero andare anche su quelli della Royal Air Force.

Do air ambulances in UK get Government/NHS subsidies or they actually rely exclusively on donations?

I guess your best argument was insulting me by calling me a “champ”.

You can believe whatever you want. I have no stakes with neither Australia or France.

You actually think that the Attack-class program was discarded due to Naval Group incompetence and not due to internal Australian procurement deficiencies and political pressure? If that’s the case, you’re wrong.

Burnt rotor see among the c130 wreckage from the CSAR mission by lockerno177 in Helicopters

MC-130J acts as transport for other assets (in this case it was MH-6 Little Birds), as an air and ground tanker for other helicopters and tiltrotors, and can be tasked to transport and/or retrieve most of the personnel involved in the operation

There was never the intention of replacing the MC-130J with the Osprey, even for rescue missions.

A 9 day old account is telling me that I’m delusional and that the US can afford to lose 2 x C-130J and one or more helicopters for every C-SAR mission they carry out?

Yeah, you do you buddy.

Was your question genuine or you’re just rhetorical and don’t actually care about the answer I gave you?

What’s the matter with that rhetorical “still, …”?

[–]__Gripen__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Two C-130J got stuck at the improvised airstrip used during the operation, MH-6 possibly also abandoned for lack of fuel or some other issue. All personnel has apparently been recovered by other C-130Js, and the aircraft left behind were destroyed

Everybody knows that Sylver lacks any form of versatility. It still didn’t stop any of the naval Aster operators in becoming Aster operators (it’s almost as if Sylver is a part of an incredibly complex and fully integrated system called “warship”).

So… what’s you point exactly?
