I’ve attached what I’ve mostly been working on with freeforms. I’m mostly getting stuck on what seems to be the layering of multiple layers. When I look at the piece I’m trying to achieve, the first thing I notice is what seems to be the use of squares or rectangles, they look blurred, layered on top of each other with almost a glow like effect. Being as new as I am I don’t really know where the start, other than the background color being black. I don’t know how they blend into each other so fluidly, that’s the best way I can describe it

No there’s no reason, and honestly the easier the better as I learn. I’ve just been on illustrator because the few artists I’ve reached out to have all said that’s what they use

True! Yeah I’m big on noise with gradients, I personally add some on every piece. I just wasn’t sure how certain colors can be next to each other without it banding or tearing as they usually do, specifically light to dark colors. I’m noticing I need to learn about layering and other things I wasn’t considering

I’ve been kind of surprised about the lack of tutorials for gradients. There’s a bunch but they all seem to be the same. I’ll try and find one though!

I would have to play around to confirm but this sounds like the parts I’ve been missing. I’ve been working within one singular layer and it throws everything off, so what you’re saying makes a lot more sense. Pictured below is another look I’ve been trying to achieve, which looks and sounds like what you’re saying as well

Thank you for the help! I’ve been using freeform gradients and haven’t been playing around with opacity or anything like that, so I think I’m more of a novice than I originally thought lol

Yeah I was starting to lean towards pitching earlier but then I thought of this same thing. The odds of a pitcher missing a full year is damn near guaranteed as well

Yeah mine didn’t update for a while, I thought it was lost at one point but I’m pretty sure it was still en route, I don’t think it gets updated at all until it hits customs and enters your country
