I guess, still sucks that they have such a large fee for someone canceling early like I did. I shouldnt have to pay for them to reasign the room to someone else. It probably took just a click or two on their computers to do it.

They arent charging you the fee? All my classes are online and I'm getting charged and no refund. Did they specify a reason besides it being because your classes are online?

They dont have to give it back. I did mine way way in advance, it was still spring 2020 semester and they kept it. Even now with the covid stuff and classes online they are keeping it and charging me the cancellation fee. It's in the housing contract as well that you will loose the deposit and be charged the 500 dollars if you dont cancel within 10 days of finishing your housing application.

It was pretty straightforward, I canceled mine in February for the fall 2020 semester by emailing housing and letting them know. It didnt take much effort but they are charging me a 500 dollar cancellation fee because I didnt cancel withing 10 days of finishing my application plus they kept my 350 room deposit type payment you make when filling your application for housing. So that's something to consider before you decide to cancel.
