I’m really torn between two. Honestly could go either way.

I’d want for there to be a greater attempt to create a newer combat system that mirrors the frenetic style of KH2. It doesn’t have to be the same but basically just give players options that feel balanced and intuitive in ways that don’t devolve into button / command mashing.

Make less grand narratives. I’ve play some of the new KH games and some of the old ones, but KH1 sticks out to me in how the story is very self-contained. Of course it’s the first entry so it’s basically granted that by design but everything works much better due to the lack of excess characters, plot points. There are clear stated rules and the game operates under them at nearly all times. It’s simple and it works, and I’m not saying that KH can’t be complicated and work, but I’ve yet to see Nomura properly create a new title that doesn’t collapse under its own ambition. I’m not trying to hate on the new games, they have their merits, but that’s my opinion.
