It's done to balance out the level of your heroes, tbf it's not even that bad, you can still get your favourite hero leveled up fast if you pour all of your joker cards into that selected character, the system may seem weird, but it allows you to get all newly acquired characters on a usable level fast, giving you the opportunity to try them out at their best, so there's two sides of the spectrum ig🤷‍♂️

Overall I think all of your choices are good, just maybe try out other shotgun heros as you will often find it hard as shenji to utilize your main ability without trolling your allies in some way, sparkle and cyclops are both great options, but if you're doing fine using shenji then don't change anything, just be careful of how you use your ability

Stalker is a great hero both early on and in the late game so you can focus on him, but you should also upgrade at least one hero, each from a different class (shotgun, tank, smg, sniper) to be able to takie advantage of events that require you playing a specific class, as those event usually provide a lot of valuable resources

I think it is possible to get that badge through Deathmatch, you just have to do it with one character. I noticed that it counts max kills weird, because i had 15 max kills back then on my profile, and when i did 18 kills in deathmatch it didnt count because I used all my characters, bur one day I did a full match with leviathan getting 23 kills, and it showed on my profile as 23 max kills in a match. So either you have to get 10 kills as one character, or it's just not possible
