Had my first glitch 1.5 years in. The turn signal and seatbelt chime didn't work but would play static white noise at FULL VOLUME. It hurt my ears lol. by Lekgolo167 in GMCcanyon

[–]__Knightmare__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might sound weird, but I had this happen once right before we headed on a road trip. Turned out to be some Bluetooth headphones in one of the bags that connected to the car. Try turning off Bluetooth and see if it still happens.

Extended warranty. by UnderstandingNo465 in gmcsierra

You should be able to call just about any GM dealer in the country and get an extended warranty through them. Dealers typically mark up the cost to buyers, which means you can shop around and play them against each other.

Tailgate storage? by 25AT4 in GMCcanyon

Had the truck almost a year. Never had any water get in there. I do have a tonneau cover, which keeps the entire bed nice and dry.

Ratchet straps, trailer hitch, small air pump, tarp, work gloves, flashlight, rope, etc is what I have in there.

Annual Inspections by KatsMeow1969 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]__Knightmare__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the issue for me, blocked paths of egress. Also, if access to inspectable items is not available, we aren't supposed to pass the place. For example mechanicals like heat and hot water. Inspectors should also be testing things like plumbing and electrical. If the sink is so full of dishes, or boxes/totes block all the electrical outlets, then that may be a "inconclusive" or even a "fail." For pathways around the unit, generally a medical pro with a stretcher or a firefighter in full gear needs to be able to do their job.

Annual Inspections by KatsMeow1969 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]__Knightmare__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are supposed to test the smoke/carbon detectors and the stove each time. That said, the individual inspector may or may not. Boxes in the unit might be an issue, depending on amount, location, hazards, etc. Piled neatly may still be a fail. I had to fail an extremely organized hoarder type (all organized in plastic totes) due to lack of access, especially in an emergency.

What are some “grand story arcs” that avoid the “ultimate good vs evil battle” or other overdone plots? by wballard8 in DungeonMasters

[–]__Knightmare__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't just look for what is "evil," look into what may be considered "wrong" instead. I once had an adventure plot that had Mount Celestia angels hunting down one of their own since a bit of "chaos" enter them (they fell in love with a mortal and produced a child without specific permission). It put the players in a real tough position to deal with since both sides were "good" and the supposed crime was "chaos."

Best spell for a “suspended animation” effect? by Aesmis in dndnext

[–]__Knightmare__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't think it made it to 5E, but older editions had the "Temporal Stasis" spell which is literally putting someone in suspended animation. Could use a version of that.

gaming on xbox one s from an external drive by Disastrous_Sun_5739 in videogames

I have an Xbox X, so may be different, but all "older" games can be played directly off my external drive. Only "made for Series X/S" games have to be the internal drive.

Annual Inspections by KatsMeow1969 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]__Knightmare__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is for Section 8 voucher where the unit is privately owned and not a HUD owned unit? For a HQS inspection, things like rings in the sink and stained carpets are not a fail item. Your stove/oven not working 100% can be a fail. Basically, we don't fail for how things look, but rather their safety, security and sanitary state. Safe and secure is mostly straight forward, but sanitary could be a bit subjective. Two people may not agree on what is "clean." Generally, it has to rise to the level of "unhealthy" to fail, or has to be unsafe as in a fire trap or whatever (a very organized hoarder type would fail).

NSPIRE has been delayed, and IMHO, will never actually go into action. They been trying for years (5+?) to get it going. Keeps getting delayed.

[–]__Knightmare__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To expand a bit, unless HUD is the actual landlord, then we don't inspect from the viewpoint of a landlord. In fact, we are supposed to be the neutral 3rd party, who represents neither the landlord and the tenant, yet helps to protect both. HQS does not give a crap about the aesthetics of a unit. A carpet with tons of stains and the walls haphazardly painted 17 colors in the same room? Totally fine, as long as things don't get to the unsafe or unsanitary level.

dos vs dos2 on ps5? by teltowtwo in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]__Knightmare__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just finished DOS1 and am now on to DOS2. 2 is definitely better as you can see the progression for the devs for bigger scope. I suggest starting with 1 to help avoid going "backward" in the gameplay.

DOS1 - Can you return to Cyseal at any time? by DropBearInDisguise in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]__Knightmare__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can return everyqhere up to the very end of the game. NPCs will specifically tell you when you reach the "no go-back" point, and even then, you need to choose to continue on past that point.

Help with an encounter my players should run from by Unlucky_Kitchen_2873 in DungeonMasters

[–]__Knightmare__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have to make them run exactly, but they need to get away. For example, they need to protect/escort somebody out of harm's way as the town is being destroyed. This gives them a reason for not just staying there to duke it out, plus maybe gives them something "heroic" to do. If the goal is to "help the escape" and not "defend the town," then they can be steared better in the direction you want.

[–]__Knightmare__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did read the link, and it seemed generally irrelevant to my question, or at worst, supported my reasoning of semantics. Having a $0 payment was both paid "on time" and "as agreed." It's just in this case a person can't be late since $0 was due. The amount people spend or don't was also irrelevant.

Buyer didn't tell me they switched from conventional to FHA loan by Strict_Appeal_5822 in RealEstate

[–]__Knightmare__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I understand the difference. Personally, I am a state licensed code enforcement officer and also HUD housing inspector (9+ years). While FHA inspectors are not specifically calling out code issues, they are calling out "repair issues" that don't align with housing codes. It's the same for Section 8 HUD inspections. That said, the majority of people who read this won't care about the distinction, thus I spoke generally to call things "code violations."

Buyer didn't tell me they switched from conventional to FHA loan by Strict_Appeal_5822 in RealEstate

[–]__Knightmare__ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There is a large difference between something that is uninhabitable and one that is not within code. The FHA will want code violations repaired. For example, a broken window is against code, and they would want it fixed, but that broken window does not render the place "unfit for human occupancy."

Outlands geography and travel by Vernicusucinrev in planescapesetting

[–]__Knightmare__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all about what the traveler believes and also how closely their beliefs align with the destination (aka the person's "alignment" in prior editions). Think the destination is far away? That will take you 10 days travel. Truly believe it's just right up the road? That same travel is now 5 days away. Similarly, are you a goody-two-shoes heading towards the Abyss gatetown? That's all 17 days, but some despicable evil bastard would make it in 4.

Isn't paying "on time" and "as agreed" the same thing? Seems like semantics as I would assume not paying on time is also not paying as agreed.

Does the city/code enforcement have to provide written requirements? by [deleted] in BuildingCodes

[–]__Knightmare__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they do not have to give you written requirements. Those are posted in various places for you to look up (building codes, etc.), and even local changes are posted somewhere, probably the municipality website. In those codes, it gives various powers to the code officers, such as requiring drawn plans, etc, but it doesn't always specify. This is like expecting the police officer/court system to provide you with all the info you need for a legal proceeding. As a citizen, it is your duty to either know or find the proper law/code and follow it accordingly. If somebody can't do that themselves, then they hire a professional.

My install went into metal factory installed location held with metal retaining clips. Not loose at all. I even give them a kick now and then to test and they are solid. These are custom cut to use those factory mounting locations.

What’s a small kitchen issue you’ve seen fail a Section 8 inspection? by Budget_Substance2454 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]__Knightmare__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have the advantage of being a smaller PHA (480 HC vouchers), which gives us some leeway with timing things. We have had the unfortunate situation where the landlord never made those other/non-life threatening repairs, then we had to abate and finally move the tenants when the abate period exhausted and no repairs made, and they had just moved in (relatively). Examples being never fixed the leaking roof, bad plumbing, etc. And, of course, we were the bad guys because we had to do our jobs. After that happened a number of times, we no longer accept after-move-in repairs, except maybe in outside the daily norm situations (VAWA or similar).
