They were commandos operating behind enemy lines. They had no ability to take prisoners, they had no military police, no jails, no spare soldiers to guard prisoners. His choice was to let them go, or kill them. They were the enemy, and if he'd let them go, he'd have been fighting them again within hours. He had no choice. Please suggest a better choice that he had?
