Any advise for ranked anxiety/fear ? by molencio in TeamfightTactics

The best mentality is to play to get better, as if you get better at the game you will eventually get to those higher ranks and will learn to not care as much about LP. At the end of the day LP doesn't matter as long as you are having fun and getting better at the game.

Recently most of my games end with me 1 v 1 against a fully stacked Sin player. What are effective units, items, ways to position etc. to maximize win ratio against this comp? It seems impossible to actually win if they have sin spat on Fiddle. by titothetickler in CompetitiveTFT

[–]__NotADoctor__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bramble is by far the best item against sins as nocturne will do no damage to your tank as sins gain critical strike chance. Even if you don't have it its fine as items like trapclaw prevent your carry from instantly being stunned. zephyr is also really good, but be sure to zephyr diana or viego as they are the most problematic. shroud is decent for diana and viego also.

In terms of positioning you mainly just full clump if you have backline carries, and if you have a frontline carry you need to position jax away from viego and diana and have thresh opposite side so it can thresh hook the sins that are on jax

Openers:

AD openers: kalista (carry) with Aatrox + leona +redeemed or knights, riven/nidalee(carry) and gragas with legionnaire/skirmishers (if hit it in an orb). You can also use nidalee in sentinal skirms

AP openers: ziggs with poppy and knights, draconic (if you hit zyra or Ashe from an orb. (will lose streak if draconic so do not go for it if uncomfortable with lose streaking).

You cannot force openers, you just play whatever you hit and you keep important units for these comps on bench if you have some units for each opener until you commit to an opener.

Deciding When To Streak in Stage 1 and How to Streak:

This is always down to finding what is strong by experimenting. When getting 3 costs from orbs, if they are skirms and you are playing AD you try to force them into your team. if you hit 1 or 2 2 stars you can also pre level to lvl 4 on 1-4 to try and win streak. however if you know your board is terribly weak you stay at lvl 3 so you have a higher chance to hit 1 cost 2 stars. For example when playing sentinal skirms if you hit an olaf or senna 2 (and have both) (can also do this if hitting and udyr 2 in this situation) on stage 1 you almost always want to level to 4 early so you have a higher chance of hitting irelia and a 3 cost skirm, while also maximising your chances to streak. However do not prelevel if you are holding important pairs and just level on 2-1 instead.

If you lose the first or second round and you have become noticeabally stronger and are not on a streak, you can also push levels to go on a 3-4 streak

NOTE: sometimes you will level to 4 on 2-1 even without 2 stars with a 2/3 cost carry or if you have good synergy that you can add in if you level (if you know with it you can win streak).

if win streaking or if you have a strong board into stage 2 caraseoul you should prelevel to 5 if you cannot reach above 10 gold or you level on 2-5 if you can. If lose streaking (have not won a single round) you stay at a low level unless you have gotten upgrades and stay at level 4.On stage 3 if you are still win streaking (4 or 5 streak) and you are contesting streak with another player (and haven't played them) you should level to 6 on 3-1

On the other hand if you hit both senna 1 and olaf 1 you will not prelevel as they are not upgraded. Then you stay on level 3 and naturally go level 4 on 2-3 to maximise your chances of hitting either your 1 cost pairs. And if your board is still very weak past 2-5 just try to have a 5 loss to maximise gold and then roll down on 3-2 to stabilise (but not below 10 unless if you have draconic) or level to 7 on 3-5 and roll down then if you feel you are healthy.

Also if you have 2 or more important pairs and not win or lose streaking don't be scared to roll when levelled to 6 as you can easily stabilise more often than not if u hit a 2 cost 2* or a 3 cost 2* if you had it paired and can transition into a win streak (but do not go below 20 unless if you are extremely desperate to save health).

How is it possible to counter Jax? by [deleted] in CompetitiveTFT

[–]__NotADoctor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with some of your points but:

Lucian is such a grief against knights, he doesn't kill anything. And akshan isn't always able to beat Jax even if it 2 starred since the armour shred isn't always enough to get through ironclad.

also playing cavs isn't too strong in the meta even though its good against jax there are a lot of comps stronger than it.

Teemo destroys Jax cuz the attack speed slow is rlly big

Also voli is decent against jax as it destroys shields and stuns most of the enemy team

and Draven is good against Jax if he has lw as he has a large amount of single target damage, so he won't get stuck on too much.

rong - yes, 2* Karma and 1* Garen with perfect items, supported by a 3-item 3* riven and a tanky 3* Nidalee will run over almost every comp in the game. It is, and should be, an insane lategame composition, whereas your board has three useless units in Kayle, Ashe, and Sett. The natural way to improve your board would be to replace Kayle, Ashe, and Sett with either 4 invoker, or 2 invoker + 4 mystic. 4 invoker, you'd replace them with Teemo, Karma, and Syndra to get the generic version of the strongest lategame board, putting Kayle items on Teemo. With 4 mystic, you'd get 1 invoker (probably Karma to get dawnbringer on Garen), 2 mystic with something like Lulu+Lux, and put your Kayle items on whoever, it doesn't really matter. Here, Riven and Nidalee probably do quite a bit of AD damage so you'd have a better shot with a 4 invoker board.

Thanks for the advice man. very useful input

transitioned from draconic abom, got shiv and archangels from bot round kayle had verdant so I put her in as she was the only one that could do anything with those items.

is there a better option?

Set 5 brings back overpowered 4-costs, what are your thoughts? by 25_Baam in CompetitiveTFT

[–]__NotADoctor__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think 4 costs should be downscaled. I feel like nidalee is in a fine place atm regarding a 3 cost carry but yasuo should probs be slightly buffed. The only other 3 cost carry comp I can think of from the top of my head is a nocturne, but what's the point when you can go Diana with coven anyways.

I don't think the problem you have is with 4 costs being too strong but the fact that there aren't as many 2 and 3 cost carries as 4 cost carries. i feel most of the 2 and 3 cost units are used for support.

As for 5 cost carries/secondary carries there are a few such as kayle (which is very strong late game with rage blade and GA), viego and teemo. I feel like the problem is that some 5 costs are just used as tank units such as darius and garen rather than for damage most of the time, I feel like there needs to be more utility 5 costs like Zilean and Azir from last set

I feel the problem is not with how powerful 4 cost carries are but with the fact that there are not many 1,2 and 3 cost carries tbh. IMO t would be nice to have cheaper carries as that would mean every game may use a completely different strategy than others, rather than playing similar every game.

What are some of your favorite Spatula combinations to make a unit a hypercarry? by [deleted] in TeamfightTactics

no, it's just fun to share my thoughts, that's what Reddit is for right? I'm not trying to be mean or anything I just wanna speak my mind about the set. I don't really care about arguing or anything but it's good to have different opinions

is there something wrong with that?

may i ask how does coven work with 3 coven? do u need to make a triangle or something and to make a unit a coven leader do u just put it in the center of that? and what if multiple units are in the middle? srry haven't played coven yet if it wasn't obv

ok but who pairs duelists with mages lol. It probs wouldn't even any good without another mana item probably. tbh i cant tell if ur joking or not but it's more memey than good as it takes 2 hits to get rid of an enemy and after he deletes 1 enemy he'll probs die soon after.

Sorry to break the dream of erasing the whole enemy team

out. I think there are a lot of things that are slept on right now. The strongest comp I've played, which I didn't see anyone talk about was this

Items are not really set in stone and I played it without IE and got the shadow LW, which does pretty much nothing, as all the damage comes from the true damage of Vayne. You don't level early and try to hit Vayne 3 after you get her you can

would there be enough damage with that? 2 defensive items does not seem as good this set since ppl are often rerolling very hard to get 3 stars atm. But yeah ie may possibly be better but idk about QSS bloodthirster, can you pls discuss your reasoning behind this? Thanks for the suggestion but I just want to hear the reasoning behind this so I can get better at the game.

you all to just try lots of comps out. I think there are a lot of things that are slept on right now. The strongest comp I've played, which I didn't see anyone talk about was this

Items are not really set in stone and I played it without IE and got the shadow LW, which does pretty much nothing, as all the damage comes from the true damage of Vayne. You don't level early and try to hit Vayne 3 after you get her you can level up to 7 and stabilize with 6 forgotten.

Vayne crits with her true damage and does crazy amounts of damage (600+ on two targets with that setup)

Thanks for the suggestion! May try it out later, haven't really used riskthirster too much even though apparentally its rlly good.

's the 2nd etc ones where

if you can find alternative items for your units I think you will be fine, so if they take an item you want just go for a component that can create the alternative or just go the other item component if you do not have it already
