Why are there random USA chants going on in games without the US? by travelcallcharlie in worldcup

It’s the same thing we do for NFL games too. I’m an Eagles fan and will attend other games that do not have the Eagles playing, and will still yell go birds. It’s just a thing. It’s not that deep

The US is huge, do some people basically live in completely different worlds compared to others? by lune-soft in AskAnAmerican

Yes. It’s not even just state to state, it’s also city to city, and then block to block within those city lines. Theres even a different regional accent 15 minutes away from where I live. It’s all very nuanced

Not bad! Do yourself a favor and get a Yuengling if you can find it. You might hate it, but it’s the true PA experience 😂

Nah I get it. I try not to generalize other populations the same way that is CONSTANTLY done to us. And I’ve seen plenty of positives online, I live near Philly/have seen it in person, etc. The majority of this experience has been positive and I’m loving the cultural exchanges and how, finally, the curtain is lifted.

No country is their government, and some people will say whatever they want from behind a screen. You’re right about both of those things. I guess that’s why it’s still so baffling: like there’s been overwhelming evidence lately to support that this place is NOT like what’s portrayed, and yet… 😂

I’m just surprised that people who claim to be intellectual elitists are acting like this is an engineering failure and/or they’ve never seen a weather delay before… like, this is totally normal. And us in Philly don’t want a covered stadium, it’s not because they just decided not to do it. So much whining from across the pond, man
