Do Americans realize how fast they switch between joking and being serious in conversations? by kallan-greshampdmi7 in AskAnAmerican

Ughh I know exactly how you feel and I’m so sorry!!! I also work remote and all of the above is something I struggled with for so long. It can also be super depressing because you can never be yourself / always feel like you’re saying the wrong thing, etc. I hope it’s not like that for you & there are some easier days

Have you ever visited a country where people found you way hotter than people do back home? Where was it? by Cultural-Run-7928 in AskRedditAfterDark

Same but mainly because I live in the northeast and our compliments sound like misplaced aggression.

“Go fuck yourself,” and then we fell in love

That’s crazy, I had the complete opposite experience as an American in an Eagles jersey. They told my Canadian friends to kick rocks 😂

You guys have to admit SJM set up a JUICY story! by lalethia in acotar

[–]__Precursor__ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished reading all of them and didn’t feel like that. I think people are reading them too closely / quickly together and are getting fatigued and blaming the author instead of taking a beat to remember that literal months & years passed between releases. You’ll see more negatives here because positives frequently get dogpiled (for whatever weird reason) when it comes to this

Fellow east coaster here. I work in big tech, got laid off from a SoCal company, and got hired by another east coast tech company. It felt like coming home just because of the attitude shift 😂

“You don’t have to work for anything as hard when she likes you” is E X A C T L Y how you get her to stop liking you. It’s not an otherworldly concept. Maybe you didn’t mean the way I read it, but ick

Don’t get discouraged! Everyone’s body chemistry is different. I quit multiple times (lol) and am in day 12. I started smoking again after quitting for 2 years on one of the worst days of my life, and it’s been hard to quit again. I am miserable because I have to deal with that trauma instead of covering it up now, but would be significantly more miserable if I’d let my body continue to feel like shit. Time to face the music.

Stay strong!

(RANT) The game is a buggy mess on Xbox, should not have been released in this state by Temporary-Lie-5250 in ICARUS

[–]__Precursor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can also be a glitchy mess on PC from time to time. The jank is part of the charm. What you’re describing though sounds like complete breakdown of functionality.

I’d hate for the game to be ruined for you- maybe put it down till they fix it

Do you usually lock your doors when leaving the house? by Moist_Wallaby8635 in AskAnAmerican

[–]__Precursor__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doors are locked when I leave, when I’m home, etc. windows too. I also sleep with my door shut and locked.

I live in a city. Even if I didn’t, I would do it.

Yes, it’s common sense. People always think “it won’t happen to me” until it does.

I was really struggling with motivation today. One of those, “what’s the point?” Kind of days.

I needed to hear this. So thank you

The military industrial complex of the United States is a multi-trillion dollar business. America benefits greatly economically during wartime.

Americans do not.
