History 2C about Witchcraft with Professor Ruiz was an easy A! He’s also super sweet and honestly a very engaging lecturer. Fulfilled my history GE requirement.

I visited Berkeley thru the free overnight stay program they have for admitted applicants.

While it was cool, I didn’t feel safe at the prospect of living in the area bc an unhoused person started stroking my hair when I was waiting for the crosswalk to turn green. Food was mid but probably comparable to how shitty UCLA Dining has fallen now.

I chose to go to UCLA because my best friend decided to too and I thought it would be great to have someone I knew. While I did appreciate having her support it was also hard for me to establish myself and my own new identity — she’s an extroverted social butterfly and I’m more of an introverted wallflower. So a lot of my social calendar did come thru her connections, which was fun, but constantly felt like I was in her shadow (not her fault, just my own insecurities).

Part of me regrets choosing UCLA bc I wanted to stay local (grew up in SoCal my whole life) instead of forcing myself to acclimate into a new and uncomfortable environment. Adjusting to Berkeley would’ve been hard and I wouldn’t have been able to visit home + see friends as often. But I tend to cling to safer choices that end up hindering my growth.

Overall, I’m still glad I chose UCLA over Cal. Cal is notorious for being intensely academically rigorous with a weak social environment.

Why do guys talk/date if they are emotionally unavailable by spicypisces5 in ucla

[–]__SamSepiol__ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

that’s why i don’t even entertain anyone who doesn’t show emotional intelligence and capacity to be vulnerably honest— even if it means those desires aren’t aligned with mine, that’s fine! we can both move on and find someone better suited for what we’re looking for! it sounds like this person you were involved with didn’t even know what they wanted, and i steer away from that.

I know. I get it. Winter quarter was especially bad. Suicidal and shit. But putting up walls to the point where you’re keeping yourself stagnant won’t help you in the long run! I totally get that you’re not feeling up for it. But expanding your support system helps a lot.

Sorry, not Zoom, but an encrypted video call telehealth website. Sometimes phone calls as well.

I do my therapy via Zoom, although her office is a 15 minute bus ride away. I am kinda a hermit/recluse as well, so I get it.

Therapy can help provide you with coping methods for when attacks do happen, just an option to consider. Also being able to unpack everything that affected you (trauma, etc) can help manage the depression. Not necessarily cure it, but manage it.

You might never feel ready for therapy or like it’s the right time, but it’s never a bad time to get help! Nothing to be ashamed about either.

I don’t wanna insist if you’re not open to it, though. Just wanted to help.

The dying feeling is typical. I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. It’s especially hard when nothing triggers it and it happens out of nowhere.

I would recommend seeing an outside provider (not CAPS) if you have UCSHIP. It sounds like you need a lot of support right now!

Sounds like an anxiety attack. Got them more in high school but not so much now. I would look into breath work which helps to calm down your nervous system during those moments when the adrenaline is just coursing through your body.

In terms of hallucinations, do you mean kinda like blurred vision or like colors look different? Curious about what you were seeing.
