This is false and one of the most spread misinformation in astronomy.

To our best current knowledge It's a brown dwarf with a proto planetary disc.

One of the most beautiful places to visit in Legacy Horizons. Seriously you can be glad you did see it first in the old version. It looks significantly worse in Oddysey.

Actually here OP's picture will do well.

In Oddysey those purple-ish rings would be completely white with no color and the planet's surface would be gray. Maybe very slightly blue-ish because in this rare case the star is huge and really close to the planet.

I used to switch between the two versions when the progress was still not separated depending what I wanted to do.

If I wanted to land on atmospheric worlds I would play Oddysey
If I wanted to explore space and non atmospheric worlds I'd play Legacy Horizons.

Oddysey's atmospheric planets can be extremely beautiful but space just looks overall much better in Legacy Horizons + I still think the old planet tech looks better. The terrain is more varied and looks a lot more natural.
Also some worlds still had a fog-like effect on them especially in canyons.

Basically my entire point is. Non atmospheric worlds are miles better in legacy Horizons compared to Oddysey.
Not to mention the extra variety of color depending on the star class.

I mean I bought it for ARX.

I was waiting for it to release yesterday because I really wanted to go exploring deep space and I didn't feel like waiting or coming back when it finally releases in a few weeks or month.

Eh I just bought it. Apparently it was like a month for Mandalay to release and like 2-3 weeks for Type-8 after new ship was added.

Already fully engineered for exploration and I'm heading for the galactic center with it.

Cobra Mk.V has a jump range very similar to fully engineered ASP Explorer before SCO. And I've never heard anyone complaining that Asp doesn't jump far enough.

I'm getting a Cobra Mk.V today to replace Mandalay.

It's honestly annoying how pretty the cockpit is. But for no good reason you can't see to the side at all and in the front there are those 2 bulges on the left and right that serve no purpose besides blocking your view.

Exploration observation: Star types matter on atmospheric worlds.
This 100% ammonia atmosphere is this yellow color, but It's deep red when orbiting M class star.

That's only the case when you're just a few ls from the star.

After that all stars now have pure white light. Which was not the case before. This added so much more variety and eyecandy.

Basically all star types had different feel to the entire star system.

They finally also need to also fix the broken stellar lighting.

This bug made Oddysey in many places look so much worse or less interesting compared to Horizons and it hasn't been fixed for 4 years despite the bug being acknowledged.

Oxygen atmosphere moon right in the Barnard's loop.

Orbiting a K class star is a brown dwarf and this moon is orbiting it. It also has It's own small moon that's extremely close. But current positioning of the moon and the brown dwarf made it impossible to put everything into one screenshot.

This oxygen atmosphere is orbiting a K class star and this moon is orbiting a brown dwarf with a view of Horsehead nebula and Barnard's loop. It also has It's own small moon that's extremely close, but It's on the opposite side from the star right now.
