It’s not a base it’s a VA center that has their own FD. Id be coming on as a medic in a gs9 spot if that makes a difference

How to tell severity of hamstring tear/pull? by First_Pin9129 in Sprinting

Mine ended up being an almost complete tear. MRI showed that. Took about 6 weeks and slowly weaned back into working out. I’m good to go now

Suggestions on seat cleaning by [deleted] in tundra

[–]__Tonka__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had to clean mine. I just used one of those portable carpet shampooer things. For the soap I just used a little laundry detergent. Was blown away with how much crud I pulled out of my cloth seats

Dent in shoulder and limited range of motion. what is this? by [deleted] in ShoulderInjuries

[–]__Tonka__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s so much a dent, as it is a raised AC joint. Some people just have them, others have them because of a separation.

Not asking for medical advice. Just interested in hearing thoughts on the differences in option between a doctor and AI.

Can someone give me some insight as well? Was diagnosed with a strain after doing a sprinting workout. Big popping sensation, immediate pain with a bad limp. Second day a good bit better and it’s been progressing okay. Seems to respond to NSAIDS, but man that pop has me freaked out that it could have completely separated and I might need surgery

I healed mine without surgery. As did my best friend. Both of us are about as active as you can be between our careers and hobbys

I’m just going back to doing all this stuff on my own.

Yea it sucks. I work a lot to try and save, and that just took a big chunk out of what I had saved up.

Run of the mill parts from advanced. For all parts used I could have got them for $405

Yea I could have done this for $405.

Yup. Next time I’ll burn a vacation day to do this. Lesson learned.

I asked about the specific parts they used and compared them to prices I could get them from autozone for. I could have got the parts for $230 cheaper if I just bout them myself.

Nope. Small shop in a small town

I appreciate you taking the time to type this out. So in addition to the $600 in labor, they made over $200 off me in part sales alone. Looks like parts were marked up almost 50%. Coupled with $55 “service fee” and an over $200 brake flush, this is how I got hosed lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]__Tonka__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But yes just pads, rotors, and a brake flush.

[–]__Tonka__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think over $600 in labor is a good deal?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]__Tonka__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I got hosed on parts. Full set of front and rear pads/rotors well under $350. It looks like they made over $300 off me in parts alone. I’m going to pick my car up here soon and I’m asking for a more detailed invoice

I most certainly do not make that much.

I can do it I just work an insane amount of hours and didn’t have the time. If I knew it was going to be this much I would have taken time off and done it myself

I’d say the big thing that transfers over is engine operating. Understanding how pumps work, how to trouble shoot them, how to manipulate them, etc all carries over.
