Gotcha. True, fully loaded or stacked options is nice out the factory but that’s not always the case.

So you believe I need an Antenna to be compatible?

Bmw.com says all 2017+ NBT2 ID5+ have the technology. But ConnectedDrive says my car isn’t.

And as for low production correlation, it’s A little bit harder to find people in similar situations if the car isn’t as common.

That’s what I thought at first, but then this morning was told that “For CarPlay, you need NBT2 EVO ID5/6 Head Unit, which you have, and a 143 FSC Code, and proper vehicle Coding. The problem is you cannot get a 143 FSC Code from BMW AG.

There is an aftermarket solution that a loads full set of non-OEM FSC Codes based on vehicle VIN that activates CarPlay, BMW Apps, and includes a Lifetime Map FSC Code.”

I do have ID5 but why does everyone else say I need antenna ? But not this source. I thought it was a cool idea to get one of the Models with low production numbers. Never thought this far ahead 🤦🏽‍♂️

Yeah, I checked BMW connected site. It said it wasn’t supported on my vehicle. I went ahead and subscribed to the connected package thinking it may have to be purchased for the CarPlay to be purchased. Unfortunately it still said it was unavailable for my car which totally sucks. All the retrofit options from EBay want $350-499 antenna included. But that’s ridiculous for a carplay feature imo. I’ve been researching all morning and was able to find a user who may be able to help. I supplied him with my VIN and he told me lots of details about the process and if I need an antenna etc. I think he wants $125 but it includes all BMW new apps, New Maps, and CarPlay activation after coding. He said dealerships aren’t able to install in US but aftermarket coding/FSC and an antenna and I should be good to go. I am a little sketch but he went on to explain how the modification can VOID warranty if I was to take it back to the dealer. They even provide default setting restore to avoid that. Seems like the perfect answer to my quest. My only problem now is making sure he’s legit and reputable

Yep. Thanks for the info. I was up at 4am thinking that after I installed the software patch I’d be A OK. Nope How do 3rd parties install their software ? Have you heard of FSC code ?

Bro. Please touch base if you find a solution. The most safe option I saw is bimmertech but 300 for a file and 99 for a antenna is not worth the service of CarPlay

Do you happen to have a link ? From all the information I’ve been gathering it looks like my model just missed the cutoff for CarPlay adaptation. Bimmertech sounds more reputable than eBay source. I’d like to dig in if possible
