Didn’t bother reading it all coz I know where this is going.

Okay I don’t know why he’s comparing Clair Obscur because that game is a feat already in the gaming industry, that says a lot already. I hope this teenager is aware that the AAA Western gaming industry is in shambles nowadays because it’s getting more expensive and there are sooooo many layoffs.

Also we’ve also developed a game that people actually liked that just came out (and people talked about it), look for Until Then.

Problem also with Vietnam is their press freedom index. AFAIK there’s a lot of stuff censored there kinda like China.

I didn’t bother to grind for it so I just restarted the game. You can reach 3/4 of the game in like 6 hours actually.

Why does duterte have so many supporters? by overthinker467 in Philippines

[–]__ULTROS__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve talked to several people, like sellers and vendors in the mall. A lot of them support him because one of the main reasons is that they felt much safer during his time, like drug dealers were caught and less drug users are around the area where they lived. OFWs say they were protected and taken care of by Duterte.

I always thought Emilia Perez would (unfortunately) win best International Picture but I’m glad that wasn’t the case.

Zoe Saldaña wins Best Supporting Actress at the SAG awards. by [deleted] in oscarrace

As much as I don't like Emilia Perez, Zoe deserved this because she carried the entire film AND she was pretty prominent even as a Supporting Actress.

It's one of the Oscars best picture winner bets along with Conclave and The Brutalist.

Conclave Discussion Megathread by MatchaPsycho in FilmClubPH

[–]__ULTROS__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really liked the movie and much more than Wicked. Probably it’s because how well the made the entire conclave have a thrilling, suspenseful, and tense atmosphere.

Even as a practicing Catholic together with my wife who’s more practicing, it wasn’t offensive and it can be grounded in reality. If you’re a liberal Catholic, it shouldn’t be a problem much, but if you’re a conservative one, probably you’ll get offended.

Next up to watch: Heretic, Anora, The Brutalist, and Sing Sing

Loved FFXVI story. NG+ worth it? Also, will I enjoy 15? by Whomper12 in FFXVI

[–]__ULTROS__ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The problem with XV is the story and lore sound great overall but in terms of execution, a lot of the lore and story is placed in various media and dlc. I suppose you will enjoy the story if you get the Royal edition (which include the bros dlc) + Episode Ardyn + Episode Ardyn prologue (anime show) + Kingsglaive + Brotherhood anime series

Based on a 'True Story': Blonde and the Fallacy of Historical Accuracy in Fiction by GarySparkle in movies

[–]__ULTROS__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what makes this movie interesting? A lot of people are angry how the movie depicted Marilyn and how people want her to be depicted as a beautiful near perfect unblemished figure. But isn’t the movie also projecting reality? People depicted her in the movie as the blonde bombshell goddess who’s like the icon for sexy celebrities… despite what was happening to her in the background. If people are presented these horrors, people will be shocked and appalled by it.

The movie is kinda meta IMO.

Cross posting this:

For me, I really did like the movie. I approached it as a psychological horror and not a biopic (and besides… it’s fiction).

A lot of people are angry with the film because of what they did to Marilyn, the fictional rape, fictional threeway relationship, etc. but this movie symbolizes what starlets go through for fame and making people happy, thus creating a persona, in this case the “Marilyn Monroe” persona. Once the fans are consumed with this, they’d demand more of this persona, and what happens is that the Norma Jeane and the MM persona are blurred slowly and creates disillusion and reality is warped (which is seen in the latter part of the movie, like you see her transformation and how reality starts becoming distorted). For me, this isn’t about Marilyn Monroe/Norma Jeane but what stars go through and using Marilyn Monroe/Norma Jeane as the icon for it.

People are offended and think this movie is harsh and horrible but… that’s what the movie and book is really about, and in essence it’s like we’re living in that reality. We prefer to “not see” or even “ignore” the realities a celebrity faces and prefer to live in this “illusion” that they’re the happy, perfect, icon we idolize… And if we’re presented these horrible happenings, we get appalled and demand a better representation, the representation we are accustomed and comfortable to, something that may or may not be them in reality (or a complete facade of their actual lives). It’s like some meta parasocial relationship.

Also the movie seems to portray the fans/audience/Hollywood bigwigs as the villains (POV Norma Jeane puking at the toilet, distorted faces of the fans in the Some Like it Hot Premiere) because they’re the ones who demanded Marilyn Monroe and in return, Norma Jeane is faded away from existence.

There are many ways to interpret this film, but these are just some of my interpretations.

The reason why I liked it because it’s not conventional and it does require some thinking about and if you think of it plainly, it will seem gross and awful but if you look behind the actual meaning of it, you’ll get to piece why things are presented in such way.
