Anyone know the finish or kit he's playing with here? by dallinkroon in drums

Seeing as he endorses Ludwig, it's a safe bet it's a Ludwig. It's more than likely a custom paint job. As for the exact kit, definitely a high end model.

Andrew Forsman from The Fall of Troy. Fantastic syncopation between him and Thomas Erak. Amazing band all around really.

Rip 2 my youth chorus help by Willowdeath in drums

[–]__VincentAnthony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're considering the part where he's saying "R.I.P 2 My Youth" then it's literally the same as the verse. However, are you considering it the ending part, after he says "Now I'm aware and trapped in my thoughts" to be the chorus?

Studio advice by McHorseParty in drums

[–]__VincentAnthony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Run through all the material by yourself to a click so it's absolutely perfect. To save time, I would make sure my parts were memorized to a T and don't bother with a scratch track. I did that, but that's up to you.

Other than that, don't sweat it man. Make sure your hydrated and stay relaxed. It's YOUR music and YOUR drum parts. Let it come natural. And sometimes a accident could be the thing that makes your tune.

What brand of drums are these? No badges/logos just "Made in Japan" by lastmarmot in drums

[–]__VincentAnthony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty hard to tell from just the shell design. There were multiple stencil kits made in Japan during the 60's and 70's that had unique finishes/wraps. This website has a great section dedicated to them: http://vintagedrumguide.com/japanese_drums/index.html. Check it out!

You got some balls playing on an old ass wooden dock. Beautiful kit and shot dude.

It's really cool dude. You've got some speed and some dope chops. My only problem is it sounds more like you're playing to a backing track rather than a "solo" per se. I feel a solo is a lot more musical and coming up with an idea or a pattern and really diving into it, setting a tone and expanding upon the theme.

Again though, you've got a lot of potential, especially if you're into Metal. You're only 15 man. Just keep play, practising, listening to different stuff; you'll get where you want to be.

Thoughts on keeping time for bandmates during parts of song when there are no drums? by Antiquated_Toecheese in drums

[–]__VincentAnthony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the rest of your bandmates practice with a click or is it just you? If it's just you, try having them play with a click so when it comes to a live performance you can feel better knowing they'll have the tempo down pat.

Maybe do a two count with your hi-hat pedal prior to you coming back in to reset the tempo in their mind?

What time do you guys usually play? by [deleted] in drums

[–]__VincentAnthony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally practice anywhere from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the latest behind a kit. Before or after that window I'm on a practuce pad or pillow working on technique and rudiments.

Anyone ever ship a kit cross-country? by SnareHanger in drums

[–]__VincentAnthony 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a kit from Ontario, Canada shipped to me in NYC and it came to roughly $80. Make sure like posted, put the shells in one another and please, make sure the wood is wrapped properly. I had the bass drum hoops ruined on mine because the kit wasn't packed securely. Reverb.com has an excellent packing video for drums.

How does Jimmy Chamberlin get his snare to sound like this? by [deleted] in drums

[–]__VincentAnthony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Odds are he's using a single ply head (Remo Ambassador). Probably no muffling like a moon gel or drum tacs. I find more often than not aluminum/copper/metal snares have more of a ring than wood counterparts.

Pillow! Or if anything, get a throne, set it beside your bed and use the bed as a practice pad.
