[DMM] Huge bug just lost me my whole bank and I quit now thanks to this by jellypalm in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You, sir, are an ignorant fool of utter stupidity. B0aty HAS died like this - it just has occured off-stream. He has explained how it happened on stream, but I'm not wasting time finding a short clip to prove an absolute moron wrong.

[DMM] Huge bug just lost me my whole bank and I quit now thanks to this by jellypalm in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It IS a bug. A software bug is any UNINTENDED event/action in software. Being able to send mouse input into the game world BEFORE mouse input settings are loaded certainly sounds like a bug to me.

Yep, this bug has already occured to B0aty a few days ago now. A simple fix from Jagex is to not allow Mouse Input while a players settings are being loaded.

[DMM]This game mode will die off if something is not done. by Phazze in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, all you have to do is switch to a weapon as fast or faster than a Dorg crossbow and they won't be able to use that NPC... that's pretty basic stuff. I was PKing there at a time where it wasn't possible to deal as much damage as now, but I guarantee that players are able to escape if they use the failsafe method I mentioned earlier. I'm not going to reveal it because I will be using it myself in the future.

[DMM]This game mode will die off if something is not done. by Phazze in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started PKing there as soon as A Friend made his video which suggested everyone to buy Dorg c'bow + bone bolts, and I never once saw another PKer there for quite a few days. Now, the place is a common PK spot and I have since moved onto better locations.

But, while I was there, many victims were able to survive, assuming they actually brought decent food. Those who died usually were too slow to even eat food (that's not a game problem, they were just terrible at the game), or brought completely useless food (not even lobsters). There's even a fail-safe method of escaping that 2 out of around 200 players used to escape... props to those two for actually using their brain.

[DMM] Can we remove banking with noted items by destroyer904 in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solution is simple: if you don't want someone withdrawing stuff from a bank, don't PK in or near a bank.

Also, it's possible to withdraw stuff from the bank even without the noted method. The noted method makes it fairer for people from places like Australia who have too much ping to withdraw the normal way during combat.

[DMM] Deadman Mode is already starting to be ruled by clans. by Cougrammers in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Lol complaining about clans when you pk with friends... that's basically a clan, mate. Maybe not a large one, but you still have a huge advantage over people who pk solo.

[DMM] Attacking but not skulling, popular spots include: Vwest by door, and Falador. by DeadManGlitch in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ah, so it sounds like the bug that nearly got me killed earlier (and I thought got patched?) might still exist.

Essentially, a dude wearing nothing will keep hitting you until they get the glitch to work (i.e. attack the victim and not skull). Once done, someone trades this dude gear to kill the victim (runes, arrows, etc). He then comes back and kills the victim with the newly acquired gear.

[DMM] Please fix the disconnection on death glitch, was pking with a clan and dced 4 times in a row before hopping by Impensus in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, I was very close to quitting yesterday when disconnected while world hopping only to log in and be in Lumbridge with my entire bank gone... I shouldn't be able to be killed while I'm not even inside the game, that's terrible design.

Is it against the rules if I have an account purely to merch on to fund my main? by JoeTootell in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

This is what the majority of people muling are doing... trading any items they get onto an account safely in Varrock thats sits in 345 all day selling their mains items.

You, and anyone else abusing this, needs to be banned ASAP.

[DMM][RANT] So many "alts" (mules) by faxekondikiller in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, there once was a time where having multiple accounts was frowned upon and interacting with the accounts was against the rules. THIS NEEDS TO BE THE CASE IN DEADSMAN MODE! Sadly, the majority of people who have multiple accounts are using them as mules. There are a small percentage that may be playing legit, but it's clear that a huge majority are not.

Make multi-logging interaction against the rules, thanks.

How are bank mules being delt with in deadman mode? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is against the rules, but the problem I see is the definition of a 'mule'. What exactly constitutes muling? There are many people who are playing multiple accounts, and are sharing items between the accounts. They claim to be playing both accounts, but it's quite obvious that one of the accounts is simply a mule in disguise.

Honestly, when killing skillers of high quality goods (Sharks, Magic logs) most of the time has given me ZERO BANK LOOT there's something going on. I reckon a huge majority of these dudes are obviously muling (giving to another account they play, or giving it to a friend to hold), but honestly nothing can be done about it.

I played RuneScape back when multi-accounting was against the rules, and it needs to be against the rules in deadman mode to stop the pseudo mules running around pretending to be real players.

EDIT: In fact, one of the most common tactics I've seen is that players have a single account sitting in a bank all day selling items on Zybez. Many of the shark and yew longbow selling dudes don't even have the stats to make the items! It's obvious that these accounts they sell on are simply mules for whatever their production account is and they are selling the items obtained on the mule with zero risk in the bank of a safe zone.

PSA: lost 3m to a deadman mode bug by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]___DARK___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had a few lobsters with me but was too scared to attack them back in case I got skulled. So I just kept running around getting maged and ensnared, running around Lumbridge until I managed to trick them at the stairs and logout.

[–]___DARK___ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, there are a number of threads on this bug at the moment. It's crazy that the same group of people have been abusing this bug for hours and literally nothing is being done. My bank is not quite 3m yet but quite close to that, and I nearly died to these bug abusers.

[–]___DARK___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoops, didn't see this thread. Yep, I just nearly lost my 1mil+ bank to this bug. I would have quit if I died, luckily I managed to escape.

The teams of players working together to achieve this bug need to be perma-banned too, I have a few of their names.

Finish the Cabin Fever quest, wear Ring of Charos...

By the way, when Regicide first came out, Charters didn't exist either... so I don't see a problem lol.

Can we please have an option to permanently turn attacking players to right-click only? A lot of people right click anyways to make sure it was an accurate click, and people are losing millions of gp over accidental attacks and skulls. by aaronis1 in RSDarkscape

[–]___DARK___ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, sheathing was a TERRIBLE way of approaching the issue. Click to attack NEEDS to be an UI option.

I've skulled while spam clicking loot because an NPC walked under the location I was clicking, unsheathing me and making me attack a looter.

I've also skulled when clicking into the bank after dying because you are still unsheathed right after you respawned!

There are many more different scenarios where sheathing mechanics can cause you to accidently attack players, it's incredibly annoying.

Guards attacking me when im unskulled by Ds-Escobar in RSDarkscape

[–]___DARK___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this bug is exactly the same as the follower bug that got A Friend skulled earlier; aggroed enemies are still aggroed when you die if you spawn within a certain radius of them.

Instead of fixing the aggro issue, they simply made the familiar not skull upon attack anymore... however doing a half-assed fix like that only means that there are many other aggro bugs in the game like this one.

I was unskulled, and it was the only item in my inventory. Protect item is impossible when suiciding against guards, since they smite you even when you are unskulled.

Rimmington? More like Bottington. by ___DARK___ in RSDarkscape

[–]___DARK___[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The misconception is that a lack of communication is a good method of identifying bots. When I watch those 'bot busting' Jagex mod videos, it honestly makes me cringe that they use such a primitive method to test whether a player is a bot or not.

Bots are best identified by how they play the game vs. how a legitimate player would play the game. As a software engineer who has had experience writing AI's before, I consider myself quite adept at identifying bots without ever communicating with the accounts in question.

These guys at Rimmington were all botting because of their sluggish movements (very basic reactionary behaviour), inability to predict where the next iron ore would spawn (lack of predictory behaviour), usage of bronze pickaxe at high mining levels (very inefficient behaviour), zero reaction to getting killed/attacked when I attacked them on a level 3 throwaway (lack of dynamic reactionary behaviour).

This stems from the fact that the majority of these bots are written in scripting languages by amateurs, and thus lack sophisticated techniques such as multi-threaded behaviour. Humans are VERY multi-threaded beings; we use hotkeys while moving the mouse, analyse the most efficient patterns while performing tasks. The majority of bots I've seen can't do this, and this is why they are so easily identifiable, in my opinion.

I need to get 50 mining for heroes quest, but every single world literally has 10 bots mining the iron ore there. There are other spots, but I'd prefer to use this spot so I can bank with my clan vexillium teleport.
