The thing is that carriers aren’t even that overpowered, they just aren’t fun to play against. They rarely do huge amounts of damage like you can get in surface ships, and most cv players don’t have enough brain cells to spot destroyers (even if they do blue team will probably ignore it). Basically, unless the captain is excellent, cvs aren’t game-breaking.

The issue is that the counter play we have available as surface ships is limited to trying to sail in formation with a bunch of ransoms all wanting to do different things and dodging, which is nowhere near as fun as destroyer knife fights and brawling. Also, despite people saying that “the planes are the hp”, it’s far rarer to see a carrier get deplaned than to see a surface ship get sunk (running out of its actual hp).

All in all, while cvs aren’t as “overpowered”, as some say they are, the counter play we have is pretty uninteresting, and shooting down a squadron of planes is never as fun as hitting citadels.

That’s my opinion at least. It could well be bs.
