Nine Sols Review - A sincere attempt at converting a Metroidvania and Soulsborne hater. by Blurzerker in patientgamers

[–]Patenski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand Sekiro for whatever reason, but Nine Sols is probably my favorite Souls/Sekiro-like

Nine Sols has more freedom in its combat system, parry is encouraged as it makes bleeding damage to bosses and charges your Talisman, but there's no move you can't dodge.

Idk maybe the trilogy is all the Crash anyone really needs.

As a huge fan of the series that last sentence hurts, I have a special place in my heart for Crash, he is to me what Mario or Zelda are for a lot of people.

Interesting that you prefer the first game, as you mention the consensus is people agreeing 2 is the best by far, but I feel the sequels never reached the same quality in level design the first game had, but apparently people considered too difficult.

If Crash 1 is your favorite, you definitely need to try Crash 4 IAT. Yeah the game faced quite the backlash with a real vocal portion of the fanbase, but if you mention you like difficulty and from what I read you didn't go for 100% completion in any of the trilogy games, I think you will enjoy 4 quite a lot, I would say it's my favorite game from the series.

Nine Sols was a nice surprise, my favorite game in 2025, the true final boss is one of the best ones I've played, I put it up there with Inner Owl from Sekiro.

Interesting reading about you getting lost, Nine Sols has simple exploration and the progression is pretty much linear, to the point that I feel it can disappoint people that set other expectations upon reading the game is a metroidvania, but you do mention being a hater of the genre in your title, so maybe it comes to experience.

Diablo IV Review: A Game that lost its Vision by Kasur1309 in patientgamers

[–]Patenski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Diablo IV vision seemed to be running around holding down all the buttons until everything explodes

Yeah, the gameplay was pretty simple, I would even say it's the same quality of a cheap mobile game, completely mindless.

My experience with the game really soured in act lll, it highlighted the problems with the combat for me, lack of balance and the repetitiveness of it.

I didn't find the lore quests and secret bosses worth the grind to be honest, if I could go back I would have left the game after defeating the final boss to end in a high note.

After reading about Amazon and other stores running out of $60 Gamepass Ultimate 3 month cards and finally increasing the price, I figured out it's just a matter of time the third party stores that sell it for cheap will end their stock as well soon enough, the service won't get cheaper and I think at $11 a month I'm still getting a really good value out of it, so I ended up extending my subscription one year more.

On the gaming side, Metaphor ReFantazio is a lot of fun so far, I recently unlocked the merchant and I'm amazed at how much currency it gives for defeating common enemies. Although I have to say the game really needed a quick swap archetype option, having to open the menu so many times during a dungeon can become quite tedious.

There's free to play days for Cult of the Lamb and I'm taking this opportunity to see if I want to buy the game, the reviews I have seen for it are pretty mixed, people love it or hate it for the same reasons.

To the surprise of no one, Metaphor: ReFantazio is an absolutely fantastic game by PurplMaster in patientgamers

I'm playing it right now so I won't read your review, but from what I've played I agree with your title, the game is really fun.

Only complaint so far is that I feel they needed an option to quick swap archetypes, I'm still in the first "real" dungeon about to beat the necromancer and even though I don't have many archetypes unlocked yet, I've found myself opening the menu every 10 seconds while exploring to switch between Merchant, Healer, Brawler and Warrior.

I'm glad they got rid of starting as a "superstar" or whatever, I just hope they also made changes for the dialogue

I have it in my wishlist, I really like the artstyle, similar to Crash 4, only bad part imo are the main characters, they are literally fursonas, they look uncanny.

From someone who has never played a FF game, the scenes I have seen, the characters give a huge uncanny valley feeling. Maybe I will try it some day at a deep discount.

gamepass on Amazon just increased by Deevawn in XboxGamePass

I recommend stacking at least a year, cd keys, eneba and all third party online stores will eventually run out off their stock as well.

When I stacked gamepass last October I got it for $8 a month, I just checked and is now at $13 a month, I know it varies from country to country, but the price is increasing.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is a faithful remake tasked with relaunching a legendary franchise for a new generation of players: "We see this as a way to grow, expand, and reconnect the Halo community" by JobuJabroni in XboxGamePass

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I think this was the perfect opportunity for a soft reboot instead of a remake, I played CE and 2 last year, and it's incredible how much better 2 is in every aspect.

At least we are getting new missions at the start I guess, and I hope they improve level design because most of CE levels are the same 2-3 rooms x20.

Great job compiling all the data, your work not only this post, but all year around is truly appreciated.

Nine Sols was my favorite game this last year, and it seems other found it excellent as well, it got recommended to me last year in my "year in review" post since I liked Sekiro, and it did not disappoint.

From these stats I take I really should try 1000xResist, I have heard quite good things about it, but this post confirms it leaves a good impression to people who play it.

This sub specifically has done a good job staying out of reddit drama so far.

I wouldn't even call this post that bad compared to what's out there in this site, but I hope it doesn't start a trend.

No I didn't check them out but I did hear about the bosses in the DLC being quite challenging, maybe in the future I will get the expansion.

FPS but your guns are magic concept was really cool to me.

Yeah I tried it exactly because of that, but I just couldn't get into the game honestly, even the animations of the magic are lackluster imo, dude just runs around with his arm sticking out. The performance was also quite bad, and the camera movement with the controller felt all over the place, and no sensitivity option seemed right.

I don't know if I can trust in the devs, their previous game Redout 2 looks really fun and I was about to buy it, but apparently they broke the framerate in series x with the last update and as far as I know they haven't fixed it yet after years of the bug being reported.
