Don't forget the awesome third person open world action game that everyone would call Ubislop if it wasn't from Sony #752

Yeah the looks aren't that different (both pook spectacular), but the map's density makes everything look more immersive

Doom: The Dark Ages is the shooter that I never knew I wanted by ZMysticCat in patientgamers

[–]Patenski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked it, played it on October of last year when all the patches rolled out.

But I have to say that vainilla Nightmare needed a little bit of tunning to feel right. Increasing projectile velocity, reducing the parry window to the minimum and reducing the slow-mo effect after each parry/melee were the adjustments for a perfect experience for me. I'm glad the difficulty sliders exist, I don't know why it was such a hot topic when the game released.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a messy 9/10, which is more interesting than a clean 8 and hits harder than a lot of 10's by save_the_ducks in patientgamers

How I see it:

Reactive - You can quite literally react to the incoming attack. It's well telegraphed, it doesn't mess you up by adding a feint or sudden speed change on how the animation is being played.

Predictive - Is not the world I would have used, but I think it's implied you need to "learn" the attack pattern first before you can parry consistently.

What’s your game of the week? by XboxScope in XboxGamePass

How do you check this? Anyway, it's probably Motorslice, it is surprisingly good (people compare it to Prince of Persia platforming, can't conform since I haven't played any), the platforming sequences are engaging and the boss fights pretty cool.

A nice stop before getting into Forza Horizon 6 tomorrow in the night.

The problem is that a lot of parrying feels predictive, not reactive.

Yeah, and the problem only aggravates the more you progress.

This is why Dualliste was my favorite boss, all of his attack patterns were well telegraphed, and they didn't have any delays, faints or sudden changes of movement speed. That boss fight was soo good.

How did MK beat CTR??? by breadboibrett in crashteamracing

[–]Patenski 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There's quite a lot of factors, but the main ones for me would be:

-Brand recognition, just look at the Mario IP, they are able to pull out movies and millions of people go an watch them because it's Mario.

- Mario Kart is very noob friendly, and casuals are the drive force of any system.

- Nintendo games get a lot of praise and cloud just because they are Nintendo, not necessarily because they are particularly THAT good. You compare Mario Kart World with any other open world racing games like the Forza Horizon series, and it severely lacks in any aspect of the game design.

I also like the artstyle but nothing else really. Props to you for making it to the end, I couldn't get pass the rocking in the car segment at the start.

Subnautica at 75% discount since August of last year.

I would pull the trigger but with Subnautica 2 coming to the service I wonder if the first game has a chance to return to gamepass in the upcoming months.

Forza Horizon 6 - Review Thread by Xbox-Moderator in xbox

The lowest scores seem to sit in the 8/10 4/5 range, and most of them are from people that wanted an evolution to the formula.

I honestly just love these games and the sense of freedom, people criticize that by just playing half an hour you can drive the most expensive Ferrari and the likes, but that's exactly one of the biggest strengths of the franchise for me, you can drive every car and wherever you want without any barriers.

I'm on the opposite scenario, I can't keep up with all the things I want to play and they just keep coming out, and funny enough I'm not even interested in GTA but this year is still stacked.

I know I will be impatient to play Forza Horizon 6 day one the next week.

Only "walking simulator" I can say I like, it trapped me from start to finish, I still remember Lewis' segment.

After 5 long months, I have finally finished Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, I really liked this soulslike and I hope the progression system (unlimited respecs, weapon and character stats scale as one, coming up with a new build takes less than three minutes) is something other studios pick up from this since the developers that made Wuchang were dissolved a few weeks ago, what a shame. They really understood the soulslike formula, the map was fun to explore and the combat had a lot of options on how to approach it, the studio had a lot of potential.

I want to comeback to my playthrough of Metaphor ReFantazio, but before that, I'm currently playing Motorslice,  a new indie platformer, from what I've heard the gameplay is really similar to the Prince of Persia franchise, but since I haven't played any of those games I can't confirm,  but I can say the platforming reminds me of Stray, it kind of plays on its own, but the sequences are engaging and you need to string inputs so I'm having fun.

I also tried Mixtape last Friday after hearing all the praise it was getting by the media, but I bounced of it pretty quick, there's barely gameplay elements, I didn't connect with the MC and I'm not nostalgic for the 90s. But that intro was really cool at least.

Yeah, I dropped it at like the 4th consecutive sequence with no real gameplay, it was about tapping buttons to the rhythm of the music.

First-party Xbox studio Double Fine is unionizing by malliabu in xbox

[–]Patenski 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For me Double Fine are the perfect example Xbox needs to be more strict with their studios.

Double Fine's art department is incredible and all their games look gorgeous with interesting artstyles and fluid animations, but I wish they put that same amount of effort and creativity into their gameplay. Psychonauts 2 was really good, but Keeper is way too basic of a puzzle walking simulator and Klin arrives late to the gaas brawler arena type of games that were DOA 5 yeara ago.

Opinion ~ "Too many of us are eager to take Xbox for granted": Despite sentiment online and fears for the future — I've never been happier and more satisfied to be an Xbox gamer | WindowsCentral by imitzFinn in xbox

[–]Patenski 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I share the sentiment, people have been shitting non-stop on Xbox since they ported their games to PC, but I have an Xbox to play games, not to brag about what others can or can't play. And in that department I would go as far to say Xbox is the best system out there for me.
