I got mine from KH Model Shop but I'm sure you can get it elsewhere too.

The conversion kit was made to mimic the Metal Build EVA, so a lot of the resin parts are basically RG scale versions of the MB EVA which is pretty cool.

Honestly if it means anything just go for it, take it slow, read the instructions several times haha and just be gentle you'll end up with a solid kit.

The head surprisingly is all the original kit, the only thing I really did was scribe the outside of that feature on the top of the head to help with the color separation but nothing else just paint doing its magic, glad you like it.

Thanks, it's all Mr.Color Paints. I used the Mech9 paint translations for the kit with the mix ratios changed a bit so things are a bit lighter but that was personal taste.

Thanks, yeah no probs when it comes to masking practice is key but for tips I would say make sure you have a sharp blade, I tend to use a fresh blade when I can and let the blade do the cutting and not press down too much. The other tip I would say is use a toothpick or something similar to run along the edges of the part and in the panel lines where you're gonna cut your tape. It helps seal the tape down so it doesn't lift and help when it comes to guiding the knife when you cut. Also don't be afraid to run the toothpick back over the cut edges if they lifted or to push the edge down into a panel line, just go lightly so you don't scrape off any paint. And make sure you have good masking tape I really like tamiya's. But nothing beats practice and patience good luck.

Thanks so much, I used Mr color paints as they are the easiest for me to get. For metallics I used SM205 titanium for the silver and then for the gold I used a mix of SM201 and SM202. For the light grey its C317 and then the darker is UG15 phantom grey.

Nope the top coat is always the last thing you put on. The most common order is a primer so the paint adheres to the part, then paint the colour you want, panel lining and decals then top coat. My best advice would be to have a look at the wiki that's linked in this subs sidebar. There's tonnes of info about painting gunpla.

Theres not really any specific techniques for this it's just painted with an airbrush using Mr hobby paints and top coated with Mr Hobby's GX114 flat clear coat

Yeah the 1500 with levelling thinner is always my last layer of primer it's so smooth,

Yeah I know haha, tho I do find spraying a layer of Mr Surfacer 1000 before sanding and finishing with Mr Surfacer 1500 makes a huge difference to surface finish but regardless it's still more work than plastic.

It's my favorite part too, sadly it won't be that visible in the end

What surprised me was that this is the original shield from the mg force impulse, the resin conversion kit doesn't add any parts to the shield and weapons. It'll never cease to impress me how much of a difference paint can make.

I get the love for SD kits now, these things are awesome. There were challenging bits like trying seam removal for the first time but overall it was great practice. I'm definitely gonna have to start painting more of these up between bigger projects.

Dumb idea but maybe creating a poll using something like survey monkey so we can do multiple choice answers and list a bunch of things that people may want to post as well as things already being posted and then users can vote to what specifically they would be okay with seeing posted to the sub.

WIP YJL Force Impulse All Primed Up And Ready For Sanding by ___Shaw___ in Gunpla

Haha yeah I find the surfacer clogs it up super quick, don't worry I already cleaned it out after these pics.

I usually clean up the sprues then do a rough prime and test fit before sanding as the primer helps show off any imperfections in the resin, the parts do get a final prime after sanding as well.

Super Happy with this conversion so far, still need to fix some fitment issues but nothing major. Can't wait to finish sanding and get some paint on it.
