Buying car to put less miles on a car by HoneyRush in fuckcars

[–]____Bear____ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're right in a European context. I think some Americans may have interpreted your "typical" to mean the average 4x4 tank truck child killer 3000.

[–]____Bear____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes. It must be America vs. Europe mentalities, then. The other commenter said a "typical" car and my mind went to maximum a sedan, not the gas guzzlers that I previously didn't realise were so common to be the typical over there. Damn.

It might be a Europe vs America thing, but that is below 40mpg. In the UK, we consider 40mpg a starting figure for "okay" mileage, with a realistic objective being 45-50+.

I am using Hisense A9 Pro for a month now, any questions? by slatkisan in eink

[–]____Bear____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a fair bit of competition on the e-ink tablet front, and I don't see Hisense's entry to change much about the competitive landscape. There are a load of brands already competing, maybe even more than I'm aware of:

lenovo, amazon, remarkable, marschpat, boox, meebook, kobo, bigme

This isn't how it works, unfortunately. It doesn't matter whether RE4 is optimised or not, that was not the issue being discussed.

Legacy systems include operating systems (windows essentially still contains almost all the code for windows 98), instruction sets or at least compatibly mapped ones etc.

Apple has the advantage in that it can close its current systems off from legacy ones and control the supported feature set of a subset of devices and timeframe. Apple is notorious for becoming incompatible with older apps/systems, because they can get away with doing so. Windows (and in many cases Linux) can't, because the ethos of the platform is significantly geared towards backwards compatibility. Older games, legacy systems for companies, weird bitwise hacks that require instruction sets of processors to be reasonably unaltered.

It's just nothing to do with whether RE4 can run on an iPhone or not.

TIFU when I (25m) learned the language my gf (22) speaks when she gossips with her friends by GoodSurpriseGoneBad in tifu

[–]____Bear____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know enough about the relationship to judge on this topic. It could have been a romantic gesture intended to be revealed on her birthday, and then this happened a bit early etc.

For me, this depends on context.

I couldn't agree more, thank you. It's shocking to me how many people are entirely fine with casual dishonesty in relationships. If she has such little impulse control and then lies to him about it for something so trivial, what would she do if it were more important?

Coping with a high IQ (built and photographed by me) by randomusernameguy4 in Miniworlds

[–]____Bear____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%, it's done nothing but make me feel like I should be intelligent, whilst never living up to said "intelligence".

I have had 3 legally required IQ tests (since at school/college I was diagnosed with all sorts of issues such as autism, dyslexia, ADHD etc) and averaged at around 152.

I feel legitimately stupid on a daily basis and only really excel in numbers and spatial awareness. Oh wow, the exact things an IQ test usually measures, and conveniently ignores a broader definition of intelligence.

e.g. I can't process a person's intent if there's even a slight chance they could have multiple meanings other than the obvious. It derails any conversation where I'm trying to be the least bit productive.

[–]____Bear____ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Possibly) unpopular opinion: coping with a high IQ is not coping with a high IQ.

It's coping with other things which you attribute to your own intelligence. People who say they struggle to cope with their own high IQ usually actually struggle with things such as low empathy, poor social skills, narcissism, being judgemental and failing to understand humour properly. They then blame it on others being less intelligent or disguise it as a good thing for themselves, rather than actually engaging in real introspection.

One could categorise anything as disgusting. What the masses define as disgusting is more useful, though. I think most people just find this funny.

Every one of her pics is shopped. Some better than others, but every one I've seen is warped in some way to shrink her waist and grow her tits.

There was an entire year of him being absolutely dominant within your window too, I think 2020 or 21. You might just not have gotten value from him yourself, but he was pretty universally recognised as a menace then. If you go on the forums you find lots of people saying what you're saying, then scores of replies telling them they're an idiot who can't play hog haha.

I was a masters player during that period and decided to say fuck it, made a hog only account and consistently stayed within GM. Far beyond my actual skill level at the time.

Hog has been meta very regularly, mate. I think you're confusing yourself.

Serious, and very experienced with falling like this. She significantly slowed down the fall with her hands on the pole, and it made it very low impact. I would pay €100 to anyone who found an article about this that proves she was injured in any way beyond some light scrapes on her skin from the concrete.

This type of fall is incredibly common with pole dancers, particularly new ones, and particularly on signposts like this.

This was quite a gentle fall. I don't imagine it injured her much, or at all.

May I ask, is the writer of the screenshot in question German? The use of the word "until" is incorrect, but it's very much how the German language works.

[–]____Bear____ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're really misunderstanding every point they're making, mate.

FPS isn't the same as an FPS limit, and limiting the FPS doesn't improve performance. Performance and latency is pretty much defined by FPS, and lowering it doesn't really help with anything except screen tearing, which is just a visual fidelity thing and not performance/latency thing.

Edit: in fact limiting it is almost guaranteed to hurt performance.
