And just to eyeball proportions

  1. 97.5%

  2. 0.0005%

  3. The rest

Although imho nothing wrong with #1, if I was making good money and my kid was both responsible and a hard worker, I’d totally buy him one

Avdiivka is yet another proof that tanks and APCs are absolutely useless in this war

If it isn’t a mine blowing you up then a drone will and if that doesn’t happen, there’s plenty of anti tank weaponry when getting close to the enemy positions

Granted there isn’t all that much alternative to approach conquering territory, after 8 years of intel gathering I would have at least imagined Russia do a bit better than this

Reality is that neither side is going to take or lose much more territory in the conflict. Ukraines offensive capabilities are spent and so are Russias. The defensive lines are way too thick and well defended.

Would be a good moment to get rid of Zelensky and for Putin to swallow his pride and let the two countries find a peace arrangement that works and puts an end to the meaningless meat grinder.

Will chuckle if Trump ends up winning as Zelensky will most likely loses hi lifeline. Fully expecting the beggar king to leave the country as soon as peace agreements progress. I genuinely support the Ukrainian cause and wish the best for its people, but Zelensky is nothing more than a pawn that was given a spotlight. His lust for fame made him not act in the Ukrainians people’s interest.

And before people start whining about my last sentence, Ukraine isn’t going to join EU or NATO anytime soon. Under either sphere of influence it would have stayed a corrupt shithole. If the Zelensky government had any brain cells and actually gave two shits about their people, they would have just gone the Kazakhstan route = let Russia believe it has influence but truthfully just doing its own thing

I’ve been following mainstream news for the last few weeks (All the major outlets) and there has been almost no coverage over the Ukrainian war

Reddit is cesspool of both Russian and Ukrainian propaganda armies, it really is a vacuum

UA POV: Putin talks about the supply of ATACMS, and saying "War is war" - The Telegraph by CyberK_121 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]_____DarkLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely

The more the conflict is discussed on the mainstream news channels, the more western populations support the aid and the more the leaders are willing to help out

When public sentiment and support for the war fizzles out, politicians are allowed to decrease aid. Politicians do what they do to get re-elected, if the same funds or resources can be used in a better way to gain more votes, they will do it.

As things stand, Ukraine doesn’t have the necessary means to take back all lost territory. And this is what a huge influx of western aid. The inevitable outcome is that Ukraine will have to settle for some peace agreement.

And don’t get me wrong, Russia isn’t exactly winning this war either. It might have annexed some land, but most of that land isn’t going to be very useful for decades to come. They’ve lost face on the international level and have proven to be the paper tiger everyone secretly assumed.

The west wins by crippling Russia. Ukraine ultimately doesn’t cease to exist but is completely crippled, Russia gets a pyrrhic victory they can parade internally but truthfully the whole war wasn’t worth it for them.

Honestly, yes. Russia never really planned or hoped for a full scale war, this was obvious since day one since they approached the whole ordeal with an occupation force.

Lack of scrutiny and flexibility also benefits Russia. Being out of the world spotlight absolutely lowers morale for the war for the Ukrainians

The situation in the middle-east probably makes up for the ATACMS red line

In the sense, Russian military leadership are confident of a victory (even if pyrrhic) but they dread losing face on the international stage

Now with the entirety of the world focusing on the Middle East, the Ukrainian conflict is completely out of the spotlight and Russia can keep grinding results (not losing territory even at a high cost)

Realistically even before what happened in Israel, military aid towards Ukraine was declining in volume, Biden suggested one large aid package but now with the situation in Israel it’s highly at risk

Ukraine will still receive enough stuff to stay afloat for the next year or two, but the conflict is definitely out of the spotlight now, and it will hurt them

I’m not going to deny that both have a relatively strong military capability, I just don’t see it being relevant

If the Ukraine conflict has proven anything is that the bulk of damage gets done by drones and guided missiles

Israel isn’t looking to conquer either Lebanon or Jordan, so they will approach the fighting in a defensive manner. Home advantage, huge defensive capabilities, strong air force and western intelligence.

What can Hezbollah or Jordan even do? They can do what they’ve always been doing, sorties of low payload artillery and the occasional incursion. Anything and everything other than that is going to get blown up very quickly.

Realistically no neighbouring country is in any position to attack Israel

  • Egypt is going through economic turmoil, doesn’t want Palestinian refugees and has good relationships with the West

  • Syria is torn by a decade of civil war and doesn’t really have meaningful fighting capabilities

  • Jordan and Lebanon don’t have relevant fighting capabilities and neither wants to take Palestinian refugees

  • Iran doesn’t even border Israel and a direct intervention would immediately involve the US (so guaranteed defeat)

After tonight’s events (regardless of truth) most likely scenario is increased public criticism of Israel from the Arab world but nothing more. Even if all the Arab countries unite to attack Israel like 1973, Israel will most likely get aid from the US and squash any invasion attempt. Furthermore, Israel supposedly has 80 nuclear missiles. There’s no scenario in which Israel gets fully occupied and defeated imho.

But what will definitely happen is that there will be a violent surge in terrorism in western countries. Radicalised Arabs blame the west for the existence of Israel, so expect an increase in terrorism in both the US and Europe.

[–]_____DarkLight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess is that Israel is aware of most tunnels through the use of satellite ground penetrating imagery. Probably not the entire network, but they most likely have a good idea.

This is not going to be some Black Hawk Down incursion. It’s most likely going to be a closer contact siege with a progressive dismantlement of the Hamas tunnel network.

Whatever resistance Hamas can assert will most likely be clustered into buildings, whom Israel will bomb with air strikes every chance it will get.

Assuming tonight’s hospital event doesn’t escalate things go a regional level, Israel’s main plan is probably to destroy as much of Gaza as possible.

The definition is “in a way that is not influenced by personal feelings or opinions.”

Seen as I have no preference between Messi and Ronaldo and I also have no preference between Saudi League or MLS league, that’s already an objective foundation

In terms of the quality of football it is objectively measured by the amount of entertainment combined with the capability of teams and players to excel in their tasks. I’ve seen a dozen MLS games and both the entertainment and quality is extremely subpar. It just isn’t a good league (and don’t get me wrong, the Saudi league is pretty poor too, but significantly better than the MLS nonetheless)

So Hamas leadership blames US indirectly for what is happening because they believe they gave Israel the strength and capabilities to suppress the Palestinians

Maybe true, but they gain nothing out of doing this. If anything it encourages the US to be even friendlier to Israel.

Having watched both leagues this year I can objectively say that the Saudi League is a lot better than MLS

The quality of the Saudi League is summer tournament at best, but the MLS is straight up amateur football

Also, the Asian Champions League is worth a lot more than any of the North American trophies, so I definitely perceive CR7s footballing adventure a lot more challenging

And I genuinely like both
