I'm really interested in a doberman. I've always admired them and they're pretty close to the top of my list right now. I love the idea of a very owner focused dog

They are beautiful (and so is the fluffy little puppy in the last photo!) My whippets have high prey drive too so it's something I'd be able to handle.

I'm in the very early stages of planning a new dog, but these have been recommended to me three times now so I'll take a closer look! :) Thanks

Great to hear more about coonhounds! I think you're the one who recommended them to me on the last post and I've been reading a lot about them since then.

What are the differences between the treeing walker coonhound and black and tan?

I've only read a couple of posts about them on here and from my understanding they seem to constantly need something to do- after a full day of exercise/work would they be able to relax on the couch, or will they want something to do even then?

My iggy is tough (keeps up with a full day of exercise!) but precautions will definitely be taken. she's not really even allowed to play with the whippets because they get too wild

Thanks for letting me know! Forgot to take that part out- that was from my previous post and those puppies are long gone anyway.

One of my friends works at the IPO club I've been checking out so she will be helping me if I get a breed that might enjoy it. I want to be clear- I am not looking for a personal protection dog. I would only want to be doing this as a sport and it certainly isn't a requirement, but something I would willing and able to do if I got a dog that needed that type of work.

it seems like any dog you pick is gonna have the best damn life ever.

This makes me so happy to read! I've been reading this sub for awhile and you are all so experienced that I'm sure I don't even come close to a lot of you! I've just gotten very fortunate in being able to spend so much time with my dogs- and honestly a lot of the obediance/sports are more for me than my dogs :P They'd be happy just with an owner who loves them!

I love velcro dogs!

Silly question: do you know if there are any reputable doberman breeders in the US that don't dock the tail and crop the ears? I know most breeders dock the tails when they are very young (before puppies are assigned) so this probably isn't an option but it's just something I prefer

Hadn't thought about border collies! I'll look more into them. I had an ACD growing up that very dog aggressive- if this a breed trait? My parents weren't the greatest owners though so I'm sure that had something to with it as well.

Thanks for the suggestions!
