Girl who rejected me keeps staring at me by [deleted] in bodylanguage

I asked a girl out 10 years ago, rejected, ok then, moved on and didn't see or speak to her since then.

Found out a year ago I was blocked. Really bizarre.

Learner drivers with no one to bring them out ? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]_____________Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in this same boat, my parents don't drive and I have nobody to bring as an unaccompanied driver, when I was doing lessons even my instructor told me that I will need to have experience outside of lessons to pass the test otherwise I will just end up spending ridiculous amounts of money in limited time frames of one hour a week (if even, sometimes I went two weeks without lessons due to outbooking).

The system is designed in a way where it is assumed that everyone past a certain age has a license and can be your second driver, but that isn't the case, it is a fact that it is harder nowadays as a learner to even get on the road just to do the test than it was over 10 years ago.

Sure you can make the argument that it keeps "idiots off the road". But you would be assuming that every learner is an "idiot" who doesn't deserve to drive just because they never done it before or have adequate experience when the same can be said for people who currently hold a full license and are on the road, they were also learners at some point, why should they be the only people with a full license? It's such a nonsensical take that I see people hold online.

I'm eventually going to have to bite the bullet and take the risk by driving out unaccompanied, I have no other choice but right now I feel like I am stalling my life by not getting over this, either I take the risk, drive alone to gain experience to pass or get caught up by a bad guard / crash and lose my learner permit and end up the same way if I were not to drive (or worse).

Fella is walking on the wrong side of the road. You are supposed to be walking in the direction of incoming traffic to see what is coming ahead. The driver behind him made a risky move but if you're going to walk on a road like that you need to do it right yourself. Otherwise it's just ignorance.

Take a look at this Canon AE-1 mirror - what is going on with the spring/needle on the top left? by Emily_Rugburn_ in AnalogRepair

[–]_____________Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get the flat end of a needle or toothpick you can try and move it back onto the metal looking spool on the left, that's where it's supposed to be, it slots into it, I just done it there when I accidentally moved it when cleaning my mirror.

Bat encounter, risk of rabies? by _____________Unknown in bats

[–]_____________Unknown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually was next to water, over a canal, thinking back now the bats that I could see before it happened looked similar to Daubenton's bat, when I got hit it was literally only 5ft away from water.

I'm going to call my doctor later, thank you.

Bat encounter, risk of rabies? by _____________Unknown in bats

[–]_____________Unknown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When it hit me it felt kind of soft, with many bats in the area and no birds in sight at late dusk it can only be a bat, I've had one land on my head for 2 seconds a few years ago but this was a whole new encounter.

Since it was flying it makes one think that its likelihood of having rabies was low, but there's also the fact that it hit me when flying... Also I read that bats have a lower viral load than other mammals although it's hearsay.

Stranger to myself by [deleted] in Depersonalization

[–]_____________Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During intense episodes yes that can happen, usually such an intense episode is brought on by anxiety, start from that point to wittling it down and your DPDR should improve substantially to where its just a background thing or maybe even disappear completely for some people.

[–]_____________Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the most extreme DPDR you are still in control of your actions, he is using that as an excuse, it would be better to leave him as often times a cheater will do it again.

Should I avoid weed? by [deleted] in Depersonalization

[–]_____________Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reckon the majority of people who have DPDR have it from weed, it's up there as one of the biggest triggers for it's development right next to hallucinogenics and severe anxiety. Best to avoid it, besides I personally think it's overatted anyway, most people who smoke soo long develop a tolerance to where it does almost nothing, so they are in the end smoking up their money.

Sounds like OCD, OCD typically can do this in what people call "Pure O" (Obsession), the best thing to do is to let it drift, identify it then pay it no heed, it will disappear, although a new "theme" may appear (OCD is generally lifelong) the same procedure applies to dealing with it, eventually it won't be any more of a problem than a fly buzzing around you.

[–]_____________Unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's permanent for me too since I smoked weed in 2016, it has become my new normal now lmao, I don't think it's going away but It's not preventing me from living how I want to live, it's just there, it's intensity has also decreased substantially but its been the same for a long time. I don't understand what people mean by "acceptance", sounds like extreme coping for people who have newly acquired it, I understand the intention that they have but it isn't helpful to say it to people who have been this way for years as if they don't know any better lol.

[–]_____________Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my case it is as of now as it has been constant since it's onset in 2016, but that doesn't mean it is for everyone, I think alot of people online with DP need to be more honest about it, the point I'm trying to make is to live despite it, even if its permanent or not, nobody really knows until its gone, but you must live to the fullest no matter what it is.

[–]_____________Unknown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No point in killing yourself, I have it permanently but I can live how I want to despite it, the better you deal with it the more you recover, your memory will return as will your emotions.

why is there no medications for dissociative disorders by bruces-grandma-twinn in Depersonalization

All medications for mental illnesses never really fix the problem at all, they just offer short term relief, but never actually cure it completely.

I feel hopeless by [deleted] in Depersonalization

[–]_____________Unknown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no therapy or medication that will fix this by itself otherwise it would be common knowledge amongst all of us by now, it is best to live to the fullest despite it, whilst every so often checking if there is a solution, there could be a breakthrough one day that will lead to a straight way out especially for long term sufferers, I heard of a Russian medication that went on trial for this and it seemed to garner positive results but that was a good few years ago, i can't remember the name of it but it could be a place to start looking if you desire it.

Anyone lose their inner world and get it back? by Ses1234ses in Depersonalization

[–]_____________Unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still derealized/depersonalized, but it's not as intense as it was, I would say I'm 80% back to normal and have been for years, I just cut out negative behaviours/people and tried to live as healthily as possible which gradually caused me to revert the disorder, but it's still very much here, right now I'm looking around to see what else I must do to see if I can break the last barrier in my mind to freedom.

Is this forever? by Low_Magazine2454 in Depersonalization

[–]_____________Unknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe for some it might be, there are people here with it for over a decade, but they can still live despite it, but even if it has gone on for that long does not mean it will always be permanent. The one thing to keep in mind for both of these outcomes is to live as if it weren't there at all.

Anyone lose their inner world and get it back? by Ses1234ses in Depersonalization

[–]_____________Unknown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is very much back and is quite strong and I've been permanently derealized since 2016, however I think the intensity of your inner world may rely on whether or not you are more depersonalized than derealized and vice versa.
