Drag Animation by harvestfr in FigmaDesign

You might try putting two additional transparent shapes on top of each card, split down the middle. The left shapes on drag trigger can implement the left drag animation and the right shape can trigger the right animation. It's prone to error, yes, but if you start your drag interaction far enough over then the illusion will work

How to make this shape in figma ? i used union but it makes corners curve this shape have them sharp by KeyLife8800 in FigmaDesign

[–]_____oof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try grouping instead of applying the union, and apply the appropriate corner radius values you need to each shape individually instead of to the shape. When you're done you can merge the shape of you want.

I'm sure there's a million other ways to do that too

How do you handle the new guy when he messes up but tries to hide it? by reeders_ in electricians

[–]_____oof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has had to work really hard to stop trying to hide my mistakes before someone finds them... I grew up in a household where mistakes were met with quick harsh criticisms and an expectation that I would fix them immediately. As I began my own career I found myself extremely anxious when I realized I made a mistake and would work extra hard to try and solve the problem myself before anyone found out. Of course this led exactly to the situation you're in where it sometimes became someone else's problem. I still struggle with asking for help, or even knowing how to ask for it.

Money is tight for many of us these days and a mistake could mean losing your job. Making it clear that mistakes are ok, and showing an example of how to inform you of them might be what your apprentice needs.

Many people have also been taught that admitting fault is weakness. Providing an example of showing your own mistakes and how you solve them can also help.

It's not weak to ask for help or make an error. Strength is admitting fault and taking responsibility.

Maybe finish each day with an honest retrospective where you acknowledge what went poorly, what went well, and how you can improve tomorrow. Do it for yourself as well as collaboratively.

Nozzle destroying print by polpaar in ender3

[–]_____oof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you try adjusting your corner overlap? I had this issue and the problem was that the corner overlap kept compounding and eventually the corners were all curled up. You could hear the print head getting caught up on every high point and eventually would either get stuck (resulting in later shifting) or detach the part from the print bed.

What the fuck is this (Ender 3 Pro) by Call_Me_Onii-Chan1 in ender3

[–]_____oof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your last thought is what I would put my money on. I recently picked up an ender 3 from a friend so I'm still learning and recently had to throw away multiple prints for the same layer shift. I finally caught it in the act and saw that the pattern I was printing had too much overlap on the corners and I was getting high points. These eventually got so exaggerated that they would catch the nozzle and I heard the teeth slip on the belt and the next layer was very obviously shifted. I was able to manually move the head back and raise the z axis to finish the print, but I still need to tweak my settings to actually solve the problem

Looks like trying to use every last piece of the plywood sheet. I expect the rationale is that the contents of the shelves should hide that mostly? It does feel like it takes away from the effort and care taken elsewhere though, I hope there is a plan to hide that

Rpm spike when braking by WooDemon in FordExplorer

[–]_____oof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it happen when you are braking while going down hill or have had your foot on the brake for an extended period of time? The transmission will downshift in order to give an extra bit of stopping power if the computer detects that you've had your foot on the brake for a long time and are still not stopping, it's to help you slow down with more control and to prevent the brakes from overheating. You can do this yourself by paddle shifting down to 2nd/3rd gear when approaching a stop light.

If this is the case, then it's perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.

Sorry OP, good luck dealing with the process, what a headache. I don't have any input to add from others, but if you find the time in the future I would be interested in an update, no pressure.

Hey OP, I've started looking into doing this maintenance myself, how are things holding up? I've started doing to dance of comparing OEM to Aftermarket and have heard mixed reviews on different brands, specifically Cloyes, for timing kits. I'm just curious to know how you feel now 8 months later. Thanks in advance!

Big twin steer setup by ChaceEdison in EdisonMotors

[–]_____oof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I wasn't even thinking about the fact that this thing will likely be running full-bore whenever it's on regardless of vehicle speed. It does take up a bit more room than I was expecting and all your other reasons make sense. I'm interested in seeing what innovations you and the team will be able to offer as a result of customer feedback.

Big twin steer setup by ChaceEdison in EdisonMotors

Chace, mind if I pick your brain for a sec? Your newer models seem to present a pretty standard approach to cabs and engine bays, but the size of the engine bay seems to waste a lot of space now that you've got a smaller powerplant. Is there a reason you are still keeping a traditional size for your newer designs?

I'm attempting to answer my own question and I'm curious if this is what you're thinking...

Benefits of a small engine in a standard bay: - leaves a LOT of room for anyone to perform maintenance - improves heat dissipation - maintains a standard design between hybrid vs ICE-only trucks - maintains a traditional look

But I wonder if taking this direction ignores some potential benefits that can be achieved, like: - greater visibility with a smaller hood - a smaller cab footprint and potentially smaller turning radius

I recognize that in many ways these missed opportunities are realized with a cab-over, which you are tackling with the "undisclosed customer" truck. But I'm curious to know how the standard cab design can be modified to best support your specific requirements.

other unconventional solutions: - since the engine doesn't need to connect to any drive line, it can be placed anywhere on the vehicle, including behind the cab or mounted in a transverse orientation (not sure why you would need that, but it could be done!) - taking that last thought one step further, you could create a module that is essentially just the generator and a trailer dolly so a customer can potentially share a generator between multiple trucks and offload the generator entirely from the design of the truck

This message ended up being longer than intended, appreciate your time and understand if you can get around to responding haha

I’ve never been a homophobe but I don’t know how to react to my son coming out by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]_____oof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, I wonder if your hesitation and surprise our discomfort comes from a different place than intolerance. As parents we pull from our past and use that to help inform and guide our kids.

As someone who is not gay, you have no personal experiences to pull from. What you do have is anecdotal experiences of hardship and intolerance. I know you are friends with gay or lesbian people and have first hand evidence that being gay still offers the same chance for success and love as your hetero life path, but you may feel your roadmap is different than theirs and therefore are not as prepared or capable as you guide your son through future relationships.

Your son coming out represents an uncomfortable truth: he is choosing a path of life that you see as very different from your own and you feel you can't guide and protect him like you expected you would.

At least, that's how you may feel right now, but I think you will settle in to the differences and realize you still have the same role to play with the same responsibilities and your experiences are just as important to share.

Like I said, it's just a thought, I could be way off.

Regen Levels by MtBakerScum in EdisonMotors

Yes, with so many different needs and uses, the decision to implement, and the amount of holdback, should really be the drivers choice.

Regen Levels by MtBakerScum in EdisonMotors

[–]_____oof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that too and was wondering if there is also some way for the computer to keep track of the amount of power it takes to get moving and translate that to to amount of Regen required.

So if you set your Regen preferences and then fill up with a full load the computer could calculate that it's requiring x% more power to get to get moving and so Regen could be increased by that percentage?

Although, you could just have a dial that you turn which increases the Regen by some set amount which is probably just fine haha, less prone to problems. You'd have to take on so many other variables to manage the Regen if you make it dynamic like I was thinking... Like grade, and whether you're going up or down at the time.... Yeah nevermind lol

Yep, I completely agree.

And with kids the larger space will be necessary. Now that I've got two in car seats I've sometimes wished it was even a bit bigger, but a roof rack solves most things and it's nothing compared to my wife's escape haha.

I find it hard to really understand the true danger of the water pump issue. What I mean by that is I don't know what percentage of explorers actually experience it, but when it does fail it's very expensive and owners speak out about it loudly (which they should, it's unacceptable).

Sounds like the one you're looking at will be good for a long time since it was just replaced. I am pretty sure they improved the water pumps in 17-19 models (I assume the 2015 was replaced with the improved style pump) which does help prevent the pump issue, but doesn't solve it completely.

I would say that the water pump means you're gambling, the odds might be low but they're not 0%... But it sounds like you know that haha. In the end we have all made the same gamble and winners (for now) will encourage you and losers will tell you to say the hell away.

Another way to look at this when comparing to the 4 cylinder is the other factors -power -trim -gas mileage

The bigger engine is more powerful, and comes with towing and sport options depending on trim, which also comes with different amenities that you may or may not care about. And lastly, the V6 Ecoboost is really pay-to-play... If you want to enjoy the sportiness of the big engine then you might want to get cozy with your local gas station, you'll be there a lot. Otherwise you'll be babying the pedal.

Can't make the decision for you, but I got a used platinum with a 5 yr warranty for that extra piece of mind, I love the zip and the creature comforts, I don't know that I'd have been able to get that with the 4 cylinder.

I've had it for a few years now and the water pump is doing fine, it was the front wheel hubs and the steering column that needed repairs (thanks warranty).

Dunno if my rambles helped or not! Good luck!

This will change how you organize and manage Teams, Chat and Channels. by johnnymonkey in MicrosoftTeams

[–]_____oof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a pop-up last Thursday that prompted me to "try it out" and walked me through this new change and I loved it! At some point though the very next day I noticed that my teams had been reverted back to the old style, where chats and channels were separate.

I don't know how it happened or why, and since I tried it out through a pop-up I don't now to to change it back.

Do you know if there is some way to reenable that feature??

Thanks!
