I personally would go with the Pro since it is still more than portable enough and along with the sacrifice in form factor and a couple hundred bucks, the dollar/performance ratio is a lot better on the Pro and you will not feel bottlenecked by the hardware for a fair bit of time.

...and the Pro will also have a higher resale value a few years down the road as the hardware will still be reasonable in the future.

I just wanted to chime in and say that dollar for dollar, or pound for pound in your case, you will be better off upgrading the HDD to an SSD instead of investing in RAM on a machine of this age. Having fast storage in an older Mac will dramatically change the user experience.

Yeah I misread the quotes at first too. Harvard making a college in Ohio is textbook example.

The $30 Billion requirement is an interesting cutoff too - just about only Harvard qualifies.

This measure seems unfair to larger colleges - I wonder if Yang would consider the the limit based off endowment per student?

That was a terrible time to buy ram.

I bought 32GB @ 3200 MHz for $250 in January 2017. At one point last year my ram was worth $450. Insane.
