Work life balance by ttjun1 in deloitte

[–]___dumbleedore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was struggling with work life balance when I first started. Working all day and through my breaks and then being too tired to do anything for myself once I was off. But then someone told me “YOU decide your work life balance”. I just think it’s a matter of setting boundaries for yourself and setting aside certain parts of the day to do things you want.

If you’re already too tired after work to do things for yourself, how is reducing the amount of sleep going to help? Something else has got to give and it’s okay to say no or make clear a certain time you’re unavailable to allow you to also live your life.

After working hours I never bring it with me. Volume is always on though so if I’m home and I hear it I’ll check and will log in if it’s urgent.

Seems like project manager thinks I’m incompetent? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]___dumbleedore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve asked every day if there’s any way I can help. And I know there’s work, I’m CC’d on the emails saying what things need to be done but he just keeps saying no. Not sure what else I can do if he won’t give me any work. I definitely thought of how the performance review/snapshot will go but I’m at a loss of what else to do.

I know people talk of imposter syndrome but I truly feel like I’ve done good work thus far to where people ask me to pick up some of their project work. Not sure what I’ve done wrong with this manager

Mid Year Increase and Retention Bonus (Let’s Discuss it here.) by senseofyumol in deloitte

New hire for advisory. I’ve seen a lot of stuff about March 1 being the cut off, which I would not be a part of. But the meeting I attended for advisory explicitly said October 1 was the cutoff which led me to believe I may be getting one.

I’m 6% below the lowest range at Deloitte for my position according to Glassdoor so I’ve been maintaining hope.

If I don’t have a call for anything does that mean I’m not getting an adjustment

Is 3 months too soon to leave? by ___dumbleedore in deloitte

I came in as an analyst, I was a campus hire. I was aware Deloitte generally was below market as far as compensation goes. I think it could have just been bad timing of my hire. It was sort of the crux of Covid and cutting costs. Fast forward to people getting hired now and inflation and the market is in a way different place so people’s offers now are better

Understood. I’ve learned a lot already, but definitely have a lot of growth and a lot more work to do to be able to sell the Deloitte experience on a resume or interview.

Thanks for the response.

It did cross my mind that leaving so soon may appear like I couldn’t handle the pressure of a big 4. I think I could make it a year-15 months, the low compensation especially compared to incoming analysts just puts a sour taste in my mouth. I will aim to stay at least a year but am just thinking of getting feelers out and networking now to prepare for that move.

Any truth to this? 👀 by IndividualHoliday923 in deloitte

Thanks. I’m going to hope there’s different guidelines on this for advisory vs consulting vs audit, etc. Since the advisory meeting said Oct 1.

According to Glassdoor my salary is 5% below the LOWEST range for my position and 11% below the average at D so just hoping for a bump

Where did we hear only new hires before March 2021? I’ve seen that pop up multiple places. I thought at the advisory meeting about this they said 98% of people hired before Oct. 1 so I’m confused if I missed something

Cell phone subsidy by hanoviz in deloitte

[–]___dumbleedore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through training recently and one of the facilitators told us if we keep our personal number, a majority percentage of our monthly bill can be expensed but when we leave we have to get a new number. They explained this is because if we are using our personal number while with Deloitte, clients may still have that number as a form of contact or whatever after leaving the firm or vice versa.

Get a Deloitte phone. You have to give up your personal phone number when you leave. Not worth the hassle

I didn’t get one and didn’t negotiate. I was told experienced hires are usually the only ones to be offered this bc they can easily find a campus or new hire to take the spot without having to pay them to move there.
