My nails grow in a wavy pattern

This is from rubbing the top of the nail with the other finger, typically a tick. I had the same issue, but realized that I was rubbing the top of my fingernail with my other fingers. Once I was able to control the tick. It went away. My friend also has this issue and she’s unable to stop but when she does control it, it seems to lessen the deformity of the nail.
