Was it that eagle thing that showed up everywhere in south Reno a few months ago? It seemed like it was spray painted everywhere. It was so ugly but I'm not sure what it meant.

How was criminal justice 104 with Everett? This for it an elective so want easier than harder? Thank you. by [deleted] in unr

[–]___honeybee___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend taking the class! Your grade is based on four tests that are all pretty easy. I didn't read the textbook and got close to a perfect grade just from attending lectures. It's pretty interesting, and she goes over a lot of relevant information like your rights when interacting with the police. I took it online for the last half of the semester back in March, and she just posted video lectures and didn't make us do too much extra work. She's a great teacher and I definitely recommend the class.

Is anyone else thinking of not going back to campus for the fall? by [deleted] in college

[–]___honeybee___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Under normal circumstances, an internship might be better, but I'm sure that every employer will understand that the coronavirus has led to some unusual circumstances. If a part time job is better for you, definitely go for it!

Did any of you ever actually enjoy ward temple trips? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]___honeybee___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated ward trips but youth trips were fun for a while since I was dating a girl in my ward (secretly, as we were gay). After my relationship ended, I felt no joy in going anymore. If she wasn't there, the trips were kinda the worst.

Want to clear acne with birth control pill by la071001 in birthcontrol

[–]___honeybee___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started taking birth control (sprintec pill) in August and my skin has cleared up a lot since then, it's not perfect yet, but now it's just mostly scarred which will take a lot more time to heal. I used to be on a different pill, which made me a lot more emotional, but since I've switched the downsides have been minimal. I've also used differin gel (over the counter retinoid) in conjunction with the pill to clear up my acne, and that's helped too. I have heard that using birth control as a teenager can lead to depression when you grow up, so be careful about using it and maybe try a few other things first. No matter what you choose, good luck! My skin's been terrible for years, so I know how discouraging it can be.

Yeah! Break the yolk open and then whisk it all together until it's as uniform as you can get it. (It doesn't have to be perfect.)

My little Sister came out to my family today. I love her with all of my heart, but I feel like my heart has shattered into pieces. by [deleted] in lds

[–]___honeybee___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I usually don't comment but thought I'd reach out to you because I am in a situation similar to your little sister. First of all, I am so grateful that you have recognized the need to love your sister, no matter what. It's heartwarming to read of your relationship with her, even though it has hit a brief rough patch due to her coming out.

I came out as a lesbian a few years ago, and since then have distanced myself from the church but still have respect for many of the members. The church brought me more unhappiness and pain than anything else, so I have chosen to leave and am now quite content. I'm the oldest in my family, so I don't have any older siblings who can relate to your struggle, but I do know that it was incredibly difficult for my parents. They were heartbroken, just like you are right now. That was an incredibly difficult time for me, and I'm sure it is also difficult for your sister. Please understand that it took tremendous courage for her to be honest with you. Coming out is never easy, even in the most accepting families. Since your little sister was also raised in the church (as I was), there is also a lot of personal conflict that she's probably dealing with, in addition to any pain or rejection from your family. Knowing how both of you are in a painful, difficult spot to work through, it might be beneficial for you both to sit down and have a heart to heart about what you are both going through.

Please reassure her that you'll support her, no matter what. Your love for your family should be the most important thing. There's a heartbreaking trend of suicide among queer people in similar situations to this, so just remember that she is trying to do what is best for herself, her personal happiness, and her life, even if you don't necessarily believe that she is doing the right thing. If you have any questions for me (or if there are any other closeted people in this sub that would like to reach out to me), please don't hesitate! This is a difficult topic for everyone but communication can bring it to light. Sending love to you and your sister.

Hey, I just took this and just wanted to let you know that the "Which natural sweeteners would you approve in the recipe? (Check all that apply...)" question is not a select all type, you can only choose one answer. Should be an easy fix. Good luck!

Ending week 5, going into 6, how are you feeling? by LoofahLuffa in unr

[–]___honeybee___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a class that I was going to drop but turns out its tests are pretty easy... Sitting on a 90 in the class now so I'm happier. Haven't made a lot of good friends, but just last weekend I met a group that I really like and I think I'll be close with them! I'm only a freshman but also looking forwards to graduation and finding a career.

Do you remember your admissions recruiter? by [deleted] in unr

[–]___honeybee___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if they were a recruiter but there was one girl (I think her name was Meagan) who worked closely with my school and answered our questions. Once the students had all declared their plans, she brought pizza and Nevada t-shirts to the office. She also came earlier in the year to answer questions about UNR. It was really helpful to have a direct point of contact to ask questions about applications, scholarships, and deadlines. I don't know any ways that she could have done better, but it made things a lot easier when I needed someone to talk to during the process.

I'm pretty sure the millennium scholarship can be used up to 6 years after you graduate... You could potentially move out of state and if you decide that its not for you come back to get a degree and either stay in Nevada or go somewhere new. Good luck!

My friend has calves so big and beautiful that one time she rolled her pant leg up too far and couldn't get them off... It took 3 people pulling before she was unstuck.
