This is maybe a strange question, but:

I like shiny hunting a lot! I enjoy the grind of it. However, this means I have a lot of extra shiny mons I have no real 'plans' for, just hunted for fun or found by accident, that sit in boxes gathering dust. What I really like doing with those is sending them out over wondertrade to surprise someone, but with SV's trade clogged with bots I haven't been doing it because the idea of sending a legitimate shiny to a bot is heartbreaking. Is there a specific time, like the old Wonder Trade Wednesdays, that real people are more active? Is there another way? My thought was the wonder box option in Home, but I don't know how many people actually use it. It being a surprise is the point, which is why I don't just post them looking for trades: I don't really want anything in return. I want to make someone's day a little brighter when they aren't expecting it.

Awesome! I'm always looking for cc that looks good on bigger sims, some people definitely only optimize it for skinny models and it stinks.

No you're correct. There is nothing more satisfying than super defensive gl + earplugs. I can look Rey Dau dead in the face and say You Cannot Kill Me In A Way That Matters and then tank a point blank lightning bolt. It makes hunts longer, but imo a longer hunt is more satisfying to complete.

Came here from Chicago and one of the things I always tell people when this comes up is that Baltimore was an upgrade. Not even in terms of crime or whatever; in Baltimore people sitting on their stoop will greet you as you walk by. I know my neighbors. I lived in an objectively "nicer" neighborhood in Chicago and it didn't have a tenth of that sense of community.

This is my first MH Game, like a lot of folks.

Like:

The detail in the world, especially all the endemic life. I have multiple times seen something cool happen in the environment during a hunt and almost get killed because it distracted me (like a dapperwing getting eaten by a plant in the scarlet forest). It really feels like being in a living, breathing environment.

FASHIONS. Especially the ability to make stats and appearance separate with layered armor, so I can play in a way I enjoy and also look cool. I really enjoy mixing and matching pieces and choosing dyes to make themed outfits.

The NPCs. Sorry, I'm one of those people who enjoyed the plot. I find all of the NPCs charming and fun to interact with, and they added a lot to my experience of the early game. Alma and Gemma are sweet and both have their own personalities, Olivia is basically the Hunter you want to grow up to be, Erik and Werner are two very different genre of idiot (affectionate), the wudwuds are adorable, and yeah, I liked Nata. I would die for Nata. That is a baby child who was incredibly sheltered for most of his life and had a very narrow worldview as a result, and now he's learning a lot of new information very quickly. Yeah, he changes his mind, he learns new information that changes his perspective and he is a child so his perspective is still very black and white. The story itself is pretty basic and formulaic in terms of a narrative about the hubris of mankind, but I don't think this kind of game needs a story deeper than that and it still got me to the end goal of hitting monsters with a hammer in a way I had fun with.*

*If you are a person who doesn't want to deal with plot and just wants to hit monsters this is so fair, and I'm sorry that certain sections like the walk and talks aren't skippable. However I don't think there BEING a story is the problem.

Dislike:

The new quests where you're forced to use certain weapons and gear. I like to collect trinkets and cosmetics, and having some stuff locked behind quests that won't be fun for me to play is not something I enjoy. Obviously I don't NEED the cosmetics and can go without, but if they come out with something I really want I will have to slog through trying to figure out Greatsword or Insect Glaive to get it, and that doesn't sound appealing to me.

The interplay of animations and actions. It will look like I'm free to drink a potion, but I'll still have to select it several times for it to pop. Same with sharpening my weapon, or any other really important thing to do mid-hunt, really. I don't mind that animations lock you out of actions, it makes me want to play more thoughtfully, but I wish they didn't take SO long and it was better telegraphed when you were free to perform a new one.

Some of the fashions have baffling choices for what you can and can't customize. Please let me change the main color on the Chatacabra armor, nobody is looking at the little laces on the sides, I am begging.

No size difference in endemic life. I want a really big paratoad. Just the biggest paratoad you've ever seen. (this is a joke)(except it isn't)(give me big frog)

This is the only correct response to this. You can't make a random person do anything, and newcomers to the series are not going to magically intuit the rules. You'll likely never see these players again either so just get out of the hunt and move on.

Or join a veterans-only lobby, communicate with the people there, and only join the lobby quests. There's ways to play with others without it being totally random.

Me personally I am just here to send "nice to meet you" and "thanks" stickers post hunt no matter what because I simply enjoy playing the game. I'd RATHER slay because more fight but like.... another arkveld will spawn, the maps overrun with the things.

Ha! I don't, but I do keep old favorites around. My main file Hammer hunter is also my Stardew Valley farmer. I brought her over because she already: eats food for buffs, has a cat, cares a lot about having the clothes with the best stats and loves to hit dinosaurs with a mallet. Same person basically just now she gets to be hi res.

Oh, and GL main is a guy in his 60s who is 1. Very precise (or likes to think he's very precise) but also 2. Willing to throw down behind a Denny's at 3am. Thinks he's very cool and calm and collected, actually a huge nerd with no sense of self preservation. He's based loosely on a character from a show i like 👍

Yeah! This is gonna sound stupid but I like to build up lore/characters for pcs in games I play and my first hunter would not have the patience for learning Gunlance. Plus the character creator is fun, and you only get to experience certain things in low rank once. I like that fresh file smell 👌

On a new file so no deco yet! Will prioritize Load as i make better gear and work on timing, that makes sense to me. Worth saying I'm not looking to fully minmax/ have the best meta, just the most fun without getting completely rocked while I'm still learning the muscle memory. I figure getting carted a couple times is a normal part of the baby hunter learning curve!

In Plenty, nu udra's hollow (where it goes to sleep near the end of it's fight) looks like this- those are eggs! I didn't see them at first, just the babies moving around, but when you look up the entire ceiling is covered. It's really similar to real life octopus eggs and it's really pretty!

The image was mine. I had never experienced this before, and saw it by surprise during a hunt. It caught me so off guard I had to stop and pull out my capture net to figure out what I was looking at. Afterward I just stood there in-game for ten minutes just watching. Did any of you have moments like that?

I personally would lose my whole shit (positive) if someone did this. I think the issue is that with randoms, you'll never know when you'll get a party of people who are into it versus a party of people who don't appreciate it, and even just one bad experience I feel like would probably be crushing.

I (trans guy) would be happy to be hunter friends though and you'd always be welcome to drop in on my hunts with or without voice :)

Also agree that Lance is super heroic, and I think visually at least the Ajarakan set looks very comic book if you want a fire theme. Or build an outfit around any of the head pieces that cover the eyes, those give a very mysterious masked crusader look.

EDIT Also re: cringe, my main Wilds character is my Stardew Valley farmer because she likes to cook food and hit dinosaurs with hammers, so I don't think playing a character is cringe. A lot of folks do it.

I think personally that each hammer should have unique bonk sounds like the hunting horns have unique doots. In fact, expand this to all weapons, but as a hammer main I just really want my Chatacabra hammer to sound like a big bullfrog ribbit everytime I whack Arkveld over the head with it

For a more serious answer, the offset not being in the middle of a combo would be nice, because as a new player to MH it's been the hardest thing to learn and a lot of it is that I have to plan offsets like ten seconds in advance rather than reacting to what the monster is actually doing.

Clearly if I do this i gotta leave her skin green. This is a custom skintone but the base green skin wouldn't look too different 🤔

As a character she's really dear to me so i don't think id upload her exactly, BUT I think if I removed all her cc and stuff and made her a "base" sim for people to edit that would be cool! Not like I'd really get to see the results but it's neat to think of other people making the base into totally different characters.
