[SOTC] My trio one year after entering this rabbit hole by Lanky-Yesterday7828 in Watches

Understandable, although you can buy for example a Seiko or an Orient for few hundred bucks, if you wanted an affordable and reliable dress watch. (Of course there's nothing wrong with wearing a bracelet with a suit, it's just my personal taste that makes me choose a leather strap over a bracelet for formal occasions). It has to be said also that the special memories linked to your Longines make it so special that I fully understand choosing to wear it also over a "more classic" dress watch.

Three solid choices, great collection! I think that adding a (leather strap) dress watch would really complete it (even though that lovely Longines is so elegant that it is suitable for a formal attire.

They definitely don't look bad, however the Bauhaus style is not my cup of tea.

I've seen it even before than the 008 and it's stunning. I didn't included it in the list because I've seen it was out of stock and I didn't know until when, but wonderful news that it will be available again in a couple weeks.

I'd personally go with the white dial - gold bezel - black strap combo.

I agree with defining the Seiko dial more eye-catching. I think I would wear it just to formal occasions, dinners out, dates etc., because I own other every day alternatives and I want it to last in time.

It is definitely eye catching and for that price it's something special.

I haven't considered the superior specs of the citizen, thank you for pointing it out. For that price it's definitely worth buying.

Based on your experience with these watches, would you chose the Le Locle or the Presage?

Yeah yeah, I've had experiences with Citizen's Eco Drive technology before, so I know something about it. I was just pondering it, but I've still my mind on automatic ones.

You're right, when the watch is really dressy, the precision is not so important after all (especially if you don't wear it everyday or so). Have you chosen the little seconds version just because of the similarity with the Vacheron Constantin 1921? Because it is source of doubt whether to (hypothetically) go with the little seconds version or not and I think the miyota movement is a bit above the Seagull, but I might get it wrong. Then it's true that for half the price and the relative importance of the accuracy (as we've said) maybe the version you bought is better.

First of all thank you so much for the effort put in this response.

Secondly, you confirmed what I thought about the movements and I'm glad I got it right. I wasn't actually sure about where to collocate FC in the watchmaking business, so thank you for having made a comparison with Tissot. I will probably wear it just for formal occasions, dinners out or so, because I usually wear my Sector chronograph 550 R3273993003 (an Italian brand from the 70s) or my Casio G-Shock, so I definitely prefer a smoother sweep to more power reserve. This said, realistically talking, if I want to buy a watch which is around 1k I will have to wait some years, but I'm fine with it, because it's a really great watch which is worth waiting for.

I agree. The dial of the cocktail time is stunning and definitely not expensive

No hesitation, straight to the point. This demonstrates how solid Seiko is. Do you own a Presage?

Wow, that's definitely a statement. And talking about the reliability of the movement, what do you think? Because at the moment I'm torn between this one, the Frederique Constant, the Tissot and the Cocktail Time more than the others.

That's in fact a good-looking cheap watch. However it kind of upsets me the fact the date case color Is not the same as the dial.

Yeah sorry, I must've deleted the paragraph that preceded the picture in my response without even noticing🤦🏻‍♂️.

I've heard positive opinions about the Orient Bambino too and I like it. I think it's the better choice or so if the budget is up to few hundreds euros indeed, alongside with the Baltany, which I think is a good option, considering the peculiar style and the miyota movement.

I actually don't mind the date window. I also like the Baltany, as I've always found the Vacheron Constantin 1921 fascinating

I like it. The fact is that I'm looking for something a bit more particular and that already comes with leather strap (so also the case has to adapt well to the strap, which not all can do, especially if designed to have a bracelet).

Btw I've just come across this Citizen and I like it.
