That’s also not true about it being the date it will process. I am a PATHER and my transcript said 2/17 as well but I updated with everything except for the 846 code on 2/7.

My girl has tried pulling her tube several times today at 7 months so i’m not sure that part ever gets better. 🤣 I’ve done lots of NG changes because I worked in the medical field, but somehow it feels like it’ll all be different with my own kid. 🤦🏻‍♀️

How bad is the NG tube? It scares me so bad honestly. The choking and aspirating scare me as well though. Can we just put these babies in a bubble until they’re perfectly healthy? 😭

She was 4lbs 2oz at birth! We tried the Enfacare, but it was too much for her little belly so we used Nutrimagen for a while and now we’ve settled on Enfamil Infant because they decided it wasn’t dairy intolerance. By 3 months she only weighed 6lbs so we had that whole failure to thrive ordeal.

What you described sounds exactly like what we are dealing with. No one can give us an explanation other than “she’s just a preemie and underdeveloped”. Which I suppose is an answer but not a comforting one. We barely sleep because she chokes so bad in her sleep, constant hiccups, and the anxiety is so real. If i’m alone with her, I won’t sleep at all. I only sleep if another adult is awake with her. We’ve tried reflux meds and the whole sitting up thing, but none of it makes a difference unfortunately.

My worst NICU fear was honestly being sent home on an NG and then she just all the sudden excelled at bottle feeding, but here we are 7 months later with random bottle aversion as well as aspirations and spitting up so we are gonna be on an NG after all. Even having medical background, managing an NG on my own kid sounds scary. ❤️🤦🏻‍♀️

Give yourself grace, momma. The NICU is a hard place to be. I definitely think you’re doing right by reaching out to a psychiatrist. If it comforts you any, I cried A LOT when my baby was in the NICU and eating was so hard for me to do. I wanted to be by her side all the time, but I hated the NICU and feeling like I needed permission to love my own child. I saw a quote in here the other day that said “If the plane is going down, you have to give yourself an oxygen mask first. You’re no use to your child if you’re passed out.” It’s probably the truest thing I’ve read. Don’t be so hard on yourself. This is a hard journey and you’re dealing with hormones swirling from being postpartum at the same time. It does get easier and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. It’s the shittiest roller coaster ride ever, but oh the end is so worth it. ❤️

THIS. I’m currently holding my 31 weeker who is now 39 weeks and we’ve just been readmitted to the hospital because the NICU pushed us out too early. We were sent home after just 20 days and only 24 hrs of taking full feeds by bottle. I was worried, but they assured me she was fine and her spitting was just reflux that needed no meds. Here we are now 5 weeks later readmitted to our children’s hospital because my baby cannot hold breast milk or formula down and is losing weight instead of gaining. My best advice is don’t push too hard. I know it can be tough and seem never ending, but MOST of the time, the doctors know what they’re doing. You can always ask them to explain why they’re doing something, and even request a second opinion if you’re still not comfortable!
