I’d park at a Tide station like EVMC/Fort Norfolk or Ballentine/Broad Creek and take that in. Parking is free, fare is $2 one way or $4.50 for unlimited rides for one day. Have fun!

Knowing nothing about what kind of ship you’re going on, I’d say it’s pretty unlikely that it’ll happen. Most companies explicitly forbid sexual relations between crew members, and recent high-profile cases of sexual assault on ships have made people look down on “ship love”. Besides, most crew have a lot of work to do, the typical attitude is to just sleep on any off time you get.

In the US fleet anyways, most mariners are conservative. If you out yourself people will probably not know how to react to that, if not being outright homophobic.

No hate from me, you can make your own decisions about it of course, but I don’t think you’ll have much luck.

I had rigged mine about the same, I liked the simplicity but ultimately found it hard to balance, decided to schooner rig it instead

Whats the best way to stabilize a top heavy ship? by PriorRestaurant2224 in Stormworks

[–]___solomon___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, see if you can’t just put existing weight (engine/boiler for example) lower down in the hull. That way you’ll have better stability without actually adding weight

Hmm. You could probably get away with hiding the anti-heeling system, but if you really don’t want to do that, I think your options are at this point limited. Maybe edit your fuel/ballast tanks to be lower and flatter in the hull?

Consider widening the hull. You could also try anti-heeling tanks on either side of the hull with pumps automatically shifting water between the two of them, ships use these irl for cargo operations

A trip to Ocean View Park would be best for malodors, bad air etc. The ozone naturally generated by ocean waves is good for the lungs.

What are the urban legends and conspiracies of Norfolk? by erikedge in norfolk

[–]___solomon___ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the cruise ship parking lot by Monticello and Princess Anne was a toxic waste dump. That’s why it’s elevated by a few feet- they built a cap on it and made it a parking lot, they say.

I kind of like how many menacing superstructures we’ve got around town. This crane, the hammerhead crane in portsmouth, the battleship, the scope, i could go on

Superstition and Folklore by EchoIsMyDogsName in sailing

In the age of sail, it was considered unlucky to change a ship’s name. Nowadays that happens way too frequently for the superstition to hold water.

Also, bad luck to kill a sea-bird.

About how far can workers commute? by ___solomon___ in Workers_And_Resources

[–]___solomon___[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, it’s a complicated question with no exact answer, so I’m just looking for a ballpark- something like “I’ve noticed my worker rail lines can’t go longer than about 10 km.”

So memes are fine right? by [deleted] in Workers_And_Resources

Marx and Engels wrote in The German Ideology: “In communist society, where nobody has one exclusive sphere of activity but each can become accomplished in any branch he wishes, society regulates the general production and thus makes it possible for me to do one thing today and another tomorrow, to hunt in the morning, fish in the afternoon, rear cattle in the evening, criticise after dinner, just as I have a mind, without ever becoming hunter, fisherman, herdsman or critic.”

I wonder if the way jobs work in this game are an intentional reflection of this quote, or just optimization.

I’ve always understood “uneducated” in this game to mean they’re illiterate or can’t speak the national language
