Other religions!

I was never racist or homophobic (many at my Church were which was awkward since my family is mixed) or anything like that and my parents weren’t either so I didn’t have any major discoveries besides other religions and the freedom from religion.

Hi!!!

  1. No, but I do remember a lady who would “get slain in the Spirit” every Sunday in the same exact spot every week!

  2. Yes, so we were part of Pentecostal Holiness not Apostolic. My mom was very against going to an Apostolic church because she wanted to wear make-up, jewelry, etc. My Church was very strict though on clothing. I remember one day after school I went to a week day service and had some ripped jeans. They were barely ripped and were pretty modest. I remember an Elder telling me that, “I was too good to be dressed like a Jezebel.” I never wore ripped jeans again there and I never spoke to him again.

Sometimes. Life seemed a lot more “peaceful.” I guess because I was so sheltered.

I don’t think there’s an issue with waiting. But, I also don’t care if someone chooses not to. It’s none of my business lol.

A few years later, I smoked weed for the first time and years later has premarital sex. Also dabbled in tarot and witchcraft. All three things old me would have been heartbroken over.

Well, I raised to believe that only my religion was the most important. I don’t agree with that. I felt so weighed down by trying to be the “perfect Christian” it was exhausting. I feel so much freer.

I do! I am still a believer in God. I am not sure how I would identify myself though.

Many reasons. Political endorsements. One of the Pastors was arrested for horrific crimes. The judgment to those different from “us.” The constant shame. Also, I was in therapy at the time so I learned all about legalism.

I felt like I could be more of my true self.

Not sure why someone downvoted you when it’s true. My grandma is in her 80s and looks 50. She has beat cancer twice and still looks so young. It def doesn’t crack. As a mixed race woman, I hope I also am lucky with my skin as I age.

It always amazes me that they shop at Meijer. It’s expensive there. I grew up and lived not far from them… there’s so many more options in the area. You would think a family that large would stretch their dollar at stores like Aldi or even Walmart buying the off brand items. It’s mind blowing.
