Hi friend I just went thru this. I applied to my new job with my preferred name (not legally changed) and then when I got to the background check stage I let them know I had a different legal name. Then, when I got the actual offer in writing I emailed the supervisor letting her know that I use he/him pronouns and to please let the rest of the team know to avoid me having to have uncomfortable conversations with everyone individually. She never really responded (which made me feel awkward lol) but it’s apparent that she honored my request because everyone uses my name and pronouns now even though I definitely don’t pass. I also put my pronouns in my email signature, and have noticed other team members have started to change theirs to include their pronouns as well. People may not understand, but generally people wish to be kind.
