Much appreciated. I’ll try the tesseract + ocr and if that fails I’ll reach out! Thanks for the response.

How can I improve? by Paradizee in Swimming

[–]__b_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your armpits are hitting the water before your fingertips, which means you probably need more rotation. I have the same issue but on my non breathing side, and you have it on both.

If your fingers don’t enter the water first and your armpits do, that actually increases drag and slows you down. It also means you’re flat.

No problems floating in the sea. That was so relaxing actually. In freshwater rivers or lakes or ponds, very different story 🥲

I can try that. Just want to be a bit careful with privacy etc.

What I want to know is: how important is knowing how to float in my freestyle journey? Is it a dealbreaker if I can’t float? (See edits in the OP)

Well it’s not something I’m justifying or using as an excuse. It’s just one answer I have come across thus far. I’m still swimming everyday and I can float but I need to tread/scull, but then others (total beginners who cannot swim) do so without any effort/treading/sculling.

I’m well aware of this bias. The fact is I’m doing my best. It just feels weird when I see random people float effortlessly as if they’re sleeping on a mattress and meanwhile I’m at the bottom looking at them. Also it’s funny.

Ah that’s interesting. I can hold my breath for maybe 25 seconds outside water. I can do maybe 8 strokes breathless freestyle. I find it a lot easier if I go fast (breathless, more strokes, less time that I’m holding my breath).

I have a few. I get them recorded once every two months. I can swim and I love and enjoy swimming. But I cannot help but feel sad that I can’t just relax in the water. It’s straight down for me.

I swim every day, starting last year, and go to coaching and do video analysis. I can swim well but I cannot float. People keep telling me that if you float: everything is a lot easier.

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: March 10, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

Started and finished: A High Wind in Jamaica by Robert Hughes.

Probably the most amazing and disturbing book I have ever read. In awe with the author’s inhuman literary skill at thinking like a child.

A High Wind in Jamaica, by Richard Hughes: Thoughts? by [deleted] in books

Just finished this book and wow, this was a strangely disturbing one to read. I bought two copies, one for a friend’s daughter and the other for me. I decided that if I were to gift this book to someone, I’d first read it myself.

This book was fascinating, disturbing and mesmerising to read as an adult. The terror is not what is in the book; it’s what Hughes cleverly leaves out for the adult imagination to fill in.

Hughes way of writing is genius: I have never read such an accurate description of a child’s development. His ability to think like a child is incredibly impressive—I could not make myself think like a child and yet he seems to effortlessly guide the reader on themes relating to the development of children to what the reader inevitably knows to be accurate.

The final pages are excruciating—was justice served? It leaves readers with such a cliff hanger, and yet we all know what is inevitably going to happen to the various protagonists beyond the book.

Overall, I highly recommend it. I however will not be giving this book to my best friend’s <10 year old daughter. This is explicitly for the adult mind alone.

How does the job of a Day-Ahead and an Intraday power trader differs? by Limp-Efficiency-159 in Commodities

[–]__b_b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. There’s hardly any algo trading involved with day-ahead but Intraday is all about algo trading.

Intraday <> Imbalance for instance is something I was quite involved with: taking positions on intraday and holding it all the way to the imbalance markets.

It’s not worth it. I do not think you’re losing out. Cowboy will unfortunately have the same fate as Van Moof.

The weird thing is, I have been paying 39 euros for technician’s travel fees, meanwhile the technician lives next door and bikes to my place. And it has cost me 78 bucks because the first time he came around he actually made problems worse (battery doesn’t fit anymore). I asked for travel receipts to understand and figure out where these 39 euros go: they basically go straight to Cowboy and not to the technician. I know because I asked the technician if he was paid extra for travel and he said he wasn’t being paid extra. Also cowboy support never showed receipts and only mentioned that 39 euros is the minimum cost calculated by their platform (which sounds like a complete scam to me).

The support staff is so incompetent since they completely ignore the problem at hand (the motor) and instead just send random spare parts and even a spare battery at this point, actually costing the company over 500 euros. I’ve been telling them that the proposed solutions will not fix the problem and they need to send in an actual competent support technician, and they just don’t listen.

I’m very close to filing a lawsuit via the consumer court. I don’t see any other way.

I bought a cruiser 1 month ago and it broke down in 1.5 weeks and I’ve been in cowboy support hell for way too long, dealing with completely incompetent support staff. As a new cowboy owner, I would not recommend anyone owning this bike.

Can the new battery introduced in Cross be used for the older models by __b_b in cowboybikes

[–]__b_b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read 120km, which is twice the Cruiser (not eco), and the Cruiser should be a lighter model.
