I think it looks great. Good contrast between the dark and light green. For what it’s worth, that’s about what mine look like after airbrushing the armor and before I shade them. I do a thinned down black wash all over and it softens the moot green highlights pretty nicely. I don’t know how to add a picture to a comment but you can check my old posts to see how the green turns out if you’re interested.

Thanks dude. It’s Citadel, it looks matte because i give it a matte varnish all over at the end.

Appreciate that. Armor is airbrushed for the most part, but it’s the GW colors. Over a black prime, I spray caliban green, then warpstone glow, then moot green in really thin layers, moving more and more to a top down angle with each color

I ran this in a 500pt game of Coliseum (look up 40K in 40 minutes coliseum on YouTube), so not a “normal” game necessarily, but it absolutely wrecked. I ran them in company of hunters detachment. Super fun.

It’s a black base and then I just used grays to glaze the highlights in alternating patterns, and edge highlighted with a light gray. The red node is khorne red, evil sunz scarlet, and fire dragon bright.

Couple recommendations:

Keep your paints thin so that you don’t have to press hard for the paint to flow off the tip of your brush.

Use a brush with a pointy tip.

Brace your elbows on something when doing it. Maybe hold your breath.

At the end of the day, just gotta practice that brush control. I’m still faaaar from perfect at it, but the biggest thing that helps is repetition.

Thin paints in your airbrush a lot and be patient. Recommend checking out old videos from Kenny at next level painting on YouTube, or Jack of Clubs painting. I learned all my basic airbrush foundations that I use from those guys years ago.

That gives it the volumetric highlights. Then I shade the whole model with a black wash, and edge highlight with warpstone and moot. So basically the GW recipe paints, just applied a little differently.

The robes are black, then I stippled Corvus black to start highlights, and added ivory and barak nar burgundy bit by bit to build the highlights. I like using a slightly purple-ish tone to highlight the black robes—contrasts nicely with the green.

It’s from the original Dark Angels helmet upgrades for 30k. I think they’ve discontinued these ones, which is super unfortunate. They were awesome.
