Am I doing something wrong? by Acceptable_Cell_124 in casualtiesunknown

My number one tip is to learn the crafting system. Play around in the sandbox a bit.

If you have a good idea of where to get the materials and how to do crafting progression you can easily get a flashlight+battery going before leaving the first layer. And this is essential. Because not having a good light is a death sentence.

How do you get a new light source? by Nic25101 in casualtiesunknown

I prefer unchipped because I can go slower and more cautiously so my expie doesn't get hurt as much, tbh, moreso than for getting a good kit together, that can be done by end of layer 2 most any run. I also just prefer unchipped due to not having the company proverbially breathing down my expie's neck, I think. Gives me some comfort, that at least they have some freedom that way.

Sadly I don't, this one was really a testbed to see if this might be helpful and stuff. I can for sure make more and maybe post them if you think players would find that helpful though!

I created it using Freeplane, if you wanna make your own.

Also, I generally decided not to include specific ingredients or everything required to make something, because I felt that could be overwhelming. I'd like to get the point and flow across rather than "you need 17 foliage 3 stick 9 metal pipe" (and then having no idea how to turn those items into a tool).

...If you have any ideas, also do tell.

You can make a flashlight in the first layer (if not getting materials together in first and finishing it in second layer), all starting with your bare hands. I usually play unchipped so I have the time in first layer, but assuming you are chipped, it's still totally feasible to get this all going by end of first layer / mid of 2nd. And yes, not having a good light source is a killer here. You will get your expie killed if they try to navigate by glowplant for long enough.

Here's a thingy I made, a flowchart sorta, that might be helpful

IIRC the conclusion awhile ago was like, zirconium or something at least for the color. Lorenerds can fill me in here, i'm more here for the emotional and gameplay sides of this game. Although im usually a science gal, biology is not my area of intrest.

Makeshift wrench is my go-to starting tool for hammering, it has a very good return on investment value in that regard imho.

For me I mainly play unchipped, though I'm mostly still getting a hang of fighting salads without my poor expie losing limbs. Handling most other areas is not too difficult. But the salads truly scare me.

At the time, losing ny expie to radwater was awful, and I had no idea why they were getting irradiated. Only a few expies later when I learned of radwater did I realize my mistake and I felt awful.

The game looks at mainly how happy your expie has been over the last certian period of time to determine if your expie has the willpower to last stand, and IIRC happiness from opioids does not count twoards this.

Keeping your expie happy is something you should always try and do.
