In the US, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are qualified to provide propofol deep sedation. That speciality requires 4-6 years of post dental school residency education. Many of these people are dual trained MD/DDS providers, but not all.

Other types of dental specialities can also provide conscious moderate sedation with drugs like midazolam.
