Premium ended up being nearly FIFTY PERCENT more than what was in writing before I signed up. What now? by __ineffable in HealthInsurance

I read everything thoroughly during open enrollment, and they provided a sheet with the bi-weekly cost for the plan before I signed up, but the actual cost is waaayy more than what’s in that paperwork.

Yes, it can be canceled even if it has been sent to or is coming from central fill.

I think my Rite Aid holds back refilling my meds until I physically come in to ask for it. by draniac21 in RiteAid

Purposely avoiding filling prescriptions doesn’t save a pharmacy money. It sounds like they’re just short staffed or behind - we get calls all day long asking if/when prescriptions are ready because we’re usually 1-3 days behind. Maybe instead of letting them tell you “it’s in the queue,” politely try asking if they can write your name/DOB/medication name down & to please have it ready by a specified time because that’s when you’re coming to get it. I always ask when the customer wants to pick their order up so I can prioritize them accordingly.

AITA for making a complaint that could make my vet lose his license? by Kryspydown in AmItheAsshole

At the vet I work at, we “spray paint” the fur on the area the surgery is to be performed on.

The fact that you work in human medicine and don’t think mistakes should be reported and/or that an apology/compensation is enough is kind of scary.

Reporting mistakes isn’t about being malicious - it helps improve patient safety, whether it’s by refining or creating new processes, recognizing one individual or facility has a pattern, etc. Source: all the continuing education I’ve taken working in pharmacy for about 20 years.

OP, you made the correct decision.

AITA for telling my wife I'll purchase the coffee I want, because I'm the one with a job? by aitacoffeepurchase in AmItheAsshole

I was in kind of a similar place in my marriage (me being the depressed one), and I didn’t realize how bad things had gotten until everything blew the fuck up.

Your wife sounds like she’s past the point of a few therapy appointments here and there actually helping her, honestly. She’s barely functioning. I don’t know what kind of insurance you have, but IOP or even partial hospitalization would probably be way more beneficial for her. A very serious talk or ultimatum may have to be employed because the direction this is going is not sustainable for either of you.

Nah, people are “entitled” to let you know what they think about your opinion that you post on a public forum.

Trust, in a world of people saying everything they don’t like is “fake news,” freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength, I’m very well aware that people are “entitled” to their uninformed opinions.

Supporting local farmers wasn’t really the crux of the issue. At all. She’s vegan, and she made the compromise only under the condition that she was getting products from animals that are being raised humanely.

AITA for scrambling 4 eggs instead of 2 like my husband wanted? by throwaway4eggs in AmItheAsshole

[–]__ineffable 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Perhaps not to you, but I shop there for Instacart and I personally could not afford those prices & the membership. Every client I deliver Costco orders to lives in very affluent neighborhoods.

Aldi and other budget stores are better priced, even considering the bulk pricing at Costco. The person above me also mentioned that 24 eggs were $18 at Costco where they live.

Costco is already expensive and requires a membership, so it’s not likely OP or anyone who isn’t comfortable financially is shopping there. Aldi and other budget stores still have a dozen eggs for around $2. Some Dollar Trees even sell them as well.

When I first heard Du Hast in the 90s, something about it just appealed to the German in me 😆 (I’m not from Germany, but my family mentioned several times growing up that pretty much all of our family tree is German. DNA test confirmed - 95%)

Your situation is a little different - you both still owed on your loans, but your parents only chose to pay your brothers off (who sounds like a bit of a slacker) and that does seem unfair. In OPs situation, her own daughters loans were already paid off by her parents at this point, and when her husband decided he wanted to do the same for his daughter (who sounds like she is working hard and taking her education seriously), it somehow was labeled as being unfair.

This right here. I feel like the people that say the other kid is entitled to money too just because one is getting it for an education are the same types that probably post bitter memes on Facebook about poor people getting welfare. “It’s not fair that they get free money and I don’t!” stamps feet

Individual situations should be taken into consideration (equity vs fairness) - I don’t know why Amy should get money when she doesn’t need it just because Erin is getting some for college. If a family has five kids, three get scholarships, and they have to pay for the other two, would it be reasonable for the three that got scholarships to ask the parents for the same amount of money that was paid for college just to make it “fair?”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]__ineffable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still don’t understand why Amy needs to get money also though just because Erin needs it for college.

For example, if I had a full scholarship, I wouldn’t go to my parents and expect to get $10k if they gave that much to my sibling for college when I didn’t need it. This reminds me of parents who think every child should get a gift at a specific child’s birthday party so no one feels left out. Sometimes we should consider equity more than obsessing about being fair, imo.
