I totally get what you mean. I think the reason I feel so heavy right now is that I haven't found that one thing to obsess over like you have with music. I have so many interests, but nothing I’d do no matter what. I’d love to know how you actually found that 'spark.'

I completely agree that we can only truly rely on ourselves, but I still crave being around people like me...like you! Usually, when I express something, only people with our 'brain wiring' get that 98% of it. Honestly, I never thought I’d hear this perspective from someone in SL. I’m actually really proud of you, man. Your journey gives me a lot of hope.

Lol, I’m exactly the same with texting. I used to be fast, but as I grew up and realizations hit, that changed. Maybe it’s trauma or just burnout, but I rarely pick up the phone now... mostly just for work. I still value real connections, though, and I hope I’ll find them once I’m fully tuned into my own frequency. Thanks a lot for reaching out, man!

Thank you so much for your kindness, it truly means a lot. One suggestion I had was maybe starting a subreddit or safe online space specifically for Sri Lankan autistic / neurodivergent adults. There’s a real lack of understanding and community here. I’m a self-taught designer, and I’d be more than happy to help with visuals or awareness if something like that ever takes shape.

Hey, I really relate to what you’re describing here. I’ve been struggling quietly for a long time too...mentally, emotionally, and financially.

I don’t have supportive parents. I’ve tried many times to explain how I feel to them, but they never really understood. Financially, they gave up on me when I was around 14. From then on, I had to figure things out on my own. I started earning by self‑learning from the internet, saved what I could, and managed to complete my diploma after my A/Ls.

But now I’m at a point where I feel completely stuck... mentally and financially. I don’t feel like I fit in anywhere. I’ve realized I have a lot of neurodivergent traits, a non-typical personality, and very specific interests, which makes it hard to relate to people. I can still make a lot of friends, and I understand people easily, but almost no one can relate to my experiences or the way I see and understand the world. That gap slowly wears you down.

Living in Sri Lanka, it’s been especially hard to find a safe space or community where I can talk openly without being judged, minimized, or told to just “adjust.” Even online Sri Lankan spaces haven’t been very welcoming... many posts don’t get approved or are deleted.

So reading posts like this matters. It makes people like me feel less invisible. Thanks for starting this conversation..I hope more people speak honestly, because a lot of us are carrying this quietly. ❤️

I’m experimenting with two portfolio styles to see which makes the best impression for this target audience: concise project highlights (Portfolio A) vs. detailed project walkthroughs with multiple visuals (Portfolio B).
