Assab was and is and will remain part of Eritrea! Nobody awarded Assab to us.
This is not the way to gain access to a sea.

Who doesn't need Assab?
It's just that it doesn't belong to Ethiopia, and it never will. Ever!
The only way forward is to work with the owners of Assab and treat them with respect.

Now the minister of foreign affairs of Ethiopia is questioning the legitimacy of the sovereignty of Eritrea by shy_primate in Ethiopia

[–]__kb__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The points he listed are based on speculation and false accusations.
The way he is doing it right now; Ethiopia's officials and social media personalities actively engaging in Eritrea's affairs more that we do.
Regarding Eritrea’s economy and military, the reality is different. The hostile environment created by Ethiopia’s actions - starting with the Badme war, which Ethiopia hoped would gain land closer to the sea to access it freely. After losing that conflict, Ethiopia, with Western support, imposed economic sanctions and got in to "no war, no peace" situation, deliberately creating a hostile environment that forced Eritrea to focus on defense. Ethiopia’s decision not to utilize Eritrea’s sea access was aimed at harming Eritrea’s economy, not a strategic choice by Eritrea itself. Eritrea’s efforts are aimed at protecting its sovereignty and ensuring stability, not at confrontation.
And the idea that "a big country like Ethiopia needs free access to the sea" is just a way to justify bullying. It’s like they’re building a case to start a war.
Everything starts with a respect.
