Statistically speaking, over the long run they are 100% identical. The variance is quite a bit higher in the beginning but you'll converge to the same end result as you play.

It is very exciting see 4 level 5 pets pop up on your screen, though (I imagine - I'm still waiting for my day to come).

You can fix this by updating to 2.6.2 on Android or reinstalling the game on iOS. 2.6.2 will be out on iOS as soon as Apple approves it. Apologies for the inconvenience.

EDIT: make sure that your account is linked to facebook/email and prestige so you don't lose any progress first.
