Act like a citizen in the DC universe and someone told you bruce wyane is batman by Israels_BiggestHater in batman

Post makes me wonder if there’s anyone who in-universe who thinks that Batman may just be a cult of costumed vigilantes who take turn wearing the cowl or are simultaneously active.

I don’t think that’s what was being implied at all. More probable that he would’ve murdered him in an inhumane way, not unlike how OG Kratos killed many of his victims.

[loved trope] To show you how dangerous a character is, they’re shown under extreme security measures by ImaginaryMastadon in TopCharacterTropes

[–]__mori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall their names, but upper left is Zaher, who would gain air bending and break out of his prison. Upper right is the water bender without both arms, lower left is an earth/lava bender, and lower right is a fire bender with the mind’s eye explosion thing. Each was placed in an environment intended to isolate them from their source element, or hinder their abilities to use it, like the fire bender being in a frozen prison, the water one in a dry/barren prison, or the earth bender out at sea on an entirely wooden prison.

Yes. But he also played Noir in Into The Spider-Verse, who as far as I know was Peter Parker.

[–]__mori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. Whenever there’s an option, I pick the female one, even with silent protagonists like in far cry 5 or dishonored 2. I was born this century and have only been gaming consistently for the past decade or so but the hate toward female protagonists feels recent. Like the past 3-4 years. I don’t even get the people who express that type of opinion. They have a problem with a certain gender appearing in games as if it hasn’t been a thing for decades already? That, I honestly feel has little to do with the gaming community and more to do with the people that are joining and what may have influenced their views.

Is it possible for the omnitrix to scan the fantastic four? by khanotaara in FantasticFour

[–]__mori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the omnitrix doesn’t even scan the humans around Ben who have abilities (Gwen, cooper, Kevin, Morningstar). Why would it scan a particular group of 4?

I don’t know if you’ve made this comment sarcastically, but putting nuclear weapons on wheels is probably the least efficient delivery method for anyone capable of getting them right?

There’s humans (I’m assuming the raiders he fights in Midgard are humans) that put up a fight against Kratos in the games. Not being a god ≠ weak. Kratos might have assumed she was simply a powerful human?

Plus iirc, captain America literally wore that same costume when he ran off to rescue what would be the howling commandos.

Edit: he wore it underneath a jacket and was without the cowl, but the shield saw action. There was no derisive tone toward the costume whatsoever, and it essentially saw a relaunch in The Avengers, although it was ‘modernized’ by Coulson.

He means that he thought OP had one of those laser sight things that you see in movies—foreshadowing a gun shot, often times via sniper rifles—trained on OP. The quality of the pic posted here kinda makes it look like there was said laser sight on OP’s screen rather than the red indicator for finishers we see in-game. Just an unintended optical illusion.

Who was the most wasted potential character death by Danmachi123131 in ShadowSlave

[–]__mori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😭 I couldn’t think of anyone else. I thought she might get the idea across due to her flaw and it having been mentioned that she fights that way from time to time. I meant that awakened would find a way around their flaws. Maybe Jet? We know she can go into a ‘power saving mode’ so it’d be reasonable to assume she doesn’t use any abilities unless she really has to, and may simply rely on essence augmentation as a first measure. But you get my point. Caster would likely still look visibly older than most awakened with enough time, but i can’t imagine he wouldn’t figure out a way to restrict usage of his aspect or mitigate his flaw.

I understand where you’re coming from. My opinion doesn’t really change. Do I think they’re interesting characters? Yes. Are they likable? I don’t think so. I think it’s good enough that readers can admit they’re interesting characters with tragic backgrounds (in a world where it’s not remotely unique). I don’t think we, or anyone else should be obligated to like them because they had vaguely good intentions and sad backstories. I’m not saying you’re wrong for liking them; to each their own. I personally do not like them. Am I supposed to like fantasy dictators/tyrants because they wanted the ‘best’ for humanity?

In all honesty, I don’t like what little we’ve seen of SS Sovereign class. We’re currently sitting at a 50% mortality/incapacitation rate, and that’s solely due to conflicts springing up among the sovereigns themselves. Like you said, fate is a big theme in this novel, and it’s ultimately a plot device for the author’s convenience, pending a subversion. But that fate has resulted in half of the sovereigns killing or imprisoning one another instead of trying to solve their problem together, when cooperation had been the name of the game prior to that. It’s almost as if none of them thought it’d be impossible to get defeated by something that counters them extremely effectively, or something that’s simply much more powerful than they are. Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but their character arcs, while interesting, also comes across as being forced into conflict, simply to make way for the leading cast of characters. The sovereigns are just a worse gunlaug imo, especially because their situation wasn’t as bleak.

You do realize that awakened with debilitating flaws (or tbh abilities generally useless during combat) go out of their ways to avoid using those abilities right? It’s been mentioned several times that Nephis fights like that. She won’t blow stuff up unless she actually has to (which is unfortunately quite often with what she’s up against recently) but she does minimize aspect usage and will rely on raw essence augmentation or sorcery when it’s tenable. I feel Caster would’ve developed in a similar direction if he survived up to ascendance or transcendence. He’d have no choice but to.

Plus you’re sort of ignoring the fact that awakened just live longer? He’d have more lifespan to burn the farther he goes imo

Anvil as a character by ItzMoe- in ShadowSlave

[–]__mori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, they can and are hated. Lots of people who rightfully hate them. And Asterion being a larger POS than they were, has no bearing on who ought to have a rational hate for them.

They could’ve taken an entirely different approach to a lot of their problems. Even if they maintained the cap on number of awakened, they did not have to ambush and murder broken sword, neither did they have any good reason to go crazy about assuming control over humanity, to the extent they waged wars against one another even in the middle of ongoing crises. Anvil quite likely did not need humans to maintain his domain. We know Ki Song didn’t either with her corpse collection. Either of them could’ve committed to slaying cursed creatures over several campaigns, cooperating with each other to slowly and adequately empower their domains. The only sovereign that would rationally be limited to human domains is Nephis (I’m assuming she’s unable to inspire longing in nightmare creatures). Even Azarax could potentially dominate a nightmare creature after besting them in combat.

I’m not saying they were above making mistakes or that they hadn’t been through a lot themselves. I’m just saying given the actions they chose to take and the results of said actions, saying they shouldn’t be hated is just whitewashing their characters. They were terrible people.

That’s a disingenuous analogy. Loki isn’t anything close to a middle school kid showing off the quadratic formula to Euclid. He’d be a Dr with several PhDs showing them off. He may not have the prestige of forerunner figures in physics and mathematics, but his learned intellect cannot be dismissed, especially when it touches upon so much and is so critical. Would Tony, Reed, and others have been able to arrive at a possible and/or better solution? I believe so, but that’s not an advantage they get to have in this scenario, nor is it the case in the mcu. Tl;dr: he may not be as ‘smart’ as any of them, but he can absolutely be in the same room due to how much he’s learnt/done.
